I was told that sitcoms are 30 minutes...and that Dramas are 60 minutes. As I said above I didn't want to have an argument if a show is sometimes 60 minutes. So it is my fault, I apologize.

So where does "family" fit into all of this?

I agree, I thought that was exactly what were doing, a sitcom draft. I didn't care about run time etc...

I became confused just recently when I saw that the draft was changed away from a sitcom draft to a television draft.

Those were simply the different categories to pick from. And not all of the categories are family members.

I'm drafting based on sitcoms, I don't care what the rest of you do. Its silly. I mean, come on, who cares if the Office ran a 45 minute episode once in a while. It falls into Sitcom in every respect. Opening this up just made it too easy to assemble big famous roster.

I missed that whole thing. That doesn't make sense, a sitcom is a sitcom whether it lasts for 30 minutes or 3 days. I know you were trying to make everyone happy, so don't worry about it. This is supposed to be fun, so people can draft however they want. Sitcom based or not.

ditto on the first part. I didn't mean to make a big deal of it either...was just confused because I hadn't read carefully.

That being said, I will stick to the sitcom theme for the most part but will probably go in a different direction in a couple categories.

I think the rules are completely clear and everyone is being ridiculous.

Also, I choose 2.6 - Pet - Darth Vader

I agree but I think there is something subtle about a draft list that makes up a family vs. a draft of television family members.

She seemed like a cool lady, and I think she'll get along well with Homer. Also, she once kicked a rapist in the balls.

Technically he's probably been on TV more than we think, but it's been in the Star Wars movies on TV. Hopefully people aren't going to stretch this to include movies that happen to have been shown on NBC, CBS, HBO, etc. Then again, thinking about it a little too hard that would throw out the made-for-TV movies too. whatever. Rollin to bed.

I hadn't even considered locations, but doing so now I can't find one I like better than Mayberry. It conjured up the entire Andy Griffith show unlike saying "New York" would conjure up... er... 8,000 shows...

Goddamn it people, why do some folks have to make a simple thing so damn complicated. The first two lines of the original post laid out in very clear terms what this was supposed to be:

The bolded parts are pretty damn simple and clear. A draft based off of sitcoms. The categories to draft were family members/friends/enemies/pets. Nowhere did it say only 30 minute sitcoms, nowhere did it say "limited to family based sitcoms".

It cracks me up when cartman posts something like this and in my mind i'm reading in Southpark Cartman's voice. Good stuff.

Looks like DeToxRox is done for the night. I've sent a list off to Dr. Sak in case things get an early East Coast start in the morning.

Team DeTox needs a leader. The Fonz is far too set in his ways, but only one man I know can whip him into shape. A sentimental pick, perhaps a round too early, but alas:

2.10 - Gilligan's Island - Location

The selection of Mayberry might have forced my hand a bit. I was hoping this would slide a couple more rounds, but probably not now that location has been brought up and people are thinking about it.

Is there a better locale for a sitcom than a tropical island? I think not. Everyone else can have their urban scene, suburbia, or idyllic countryside. My family is living large on the shores of Gilligan's Island. Just watch out for the occasional headhunters.

I don't want to continue this argument too much, but in my defense Sak ready WAY too much into what I was saying. A special 1 hour episode of a sitcom doesn't make it no longer a sitcom. My issue came in when people were talking about people from the Soprano's or from Dallas.. or from Reality Shows... I was stating my view that our definition of Sitcom should not include shows like this and should be 1/2 hour situation comedies. The example of "The Office" was just silly, and not even close to what I was referring to.

I used that example because I knew no one would pick from that show and that way I wouldn't be accused of discussing picks not made yet or giving someone a hint to a show they didn't think of.

Gotcha. And in the end I may have not gotten my point off very well in the first go around, so I apologize for that.

I had Barney Fife as one of my top Best Friend picks, I wouldn't have seen him slipping to a wildcard pick.

So what's the Viking rule? If somebody takes too long to pick, the draft continues and the human rain delay can just make their pick whenever they get around to it?
