If someone runs out of bounds and then spikes the ball it's at the completion of the play.

In this case it's like the play never happened.

right? is that what happened? I was in the bathroom...i missed it

If Rivers went up to a Colt and shoved him, he would've gotten a 15 yarder.

Sometimes the easiest answer is the correct answer...no one decided to throw a flag.

Oh crap. THey are going to count every Manning completion now and say it 3 times between each play. I hope he throws an incompletion soon.

I know it has happened after an incomplete pass so I don't think the clock has anything to do with it.

I didn't follow the Colts all year, but that stat would indicate they have zero confidence in him from long range.

I wouldn't call 0 for 3 for 40+ yard attempts this season to be incredibly inconsistant. I would say it is 0 for 3. Not many attempts, and he looked fine on that kick.

I'm just catching up to the game on the DVR, but there was no call there because there was no play. It was stopped by the delay of game. Also, Rivers had a defender rushing at him, he threw it away to let that defender know the play was over. The NFL routinely lets QB's do that on those type of delay of game or false start penalties that are going to completely negate the play.

Considering he turned around and screamed as the delay got called, I think he threw it out of frustration.

Classy play by the Colts.

Are you kidding me? What a dolt. The Colts continue to somehow coast by on their "likable" reputation despite plays like that.

Btw, good sportsmanship from the two SD guys who blocked Manning tackling attempt, it could have been a perfect chance to hit him really hard and instead they just pushed him softly.

Ya, I was expecting a bigger hit there - I don't think it would have been bad sportsmanship if hit was a harder, but still legal hit.

Watched it 5 times, and I don't see any sign of a hold. Bad call.

I only saw it twice, but I'm not sure how a guy can hold while he's being thrown to the ground. What was he holding, air?

I think NFL refs, in general, call the holding calls on returns WAY too often. They're SO quick to let borderline holding calls go when it's O-lineman, why do they hold special teams/defense players to such a higher standard when the result is wiping out exciting plays?

Wow, that was an awful call on the hold. This game should be 14-10. Was it even close? It looked more like the Colt player had a hold of him then he did of the Colt.

Let's see how long this stays up:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phil_Luckett

Quote:
Phil Luckett is a back judge in the National Football League. His officiating uniform number is 59. He entered the NFL as a field judge in 1991, was a referee from 1997-2000, and has since returned to the back judge position (the NFL switched the titles of back judge and field judge in 1998). Luckett took a leave of absence from the NFL for the 2006 season. Having returned for 2007, Luckett is the Back Judge on Bill Carollo's crew. Luckett also refereed in the WLAF/NFL Europe, including being assigned World Bowl '97. Phil was made line judge for one reason. The reason was to blow guys... He is very good and will not miss cum going into his mouth.

edit: Gone already. But this is interesting, I love the foresight into NFL officials' opinions:

Quote:
Chargers vs Colts 2007 Playoffs

Luckett, again being criticized for his poor officiating was accused of causing the San Diego Chargers to lose a vital playoff game against Peyton Manning's Indianapolis Colts in the 2007 playoffs. With 18 seconds left to go in the 2nd quarter, Manning threw an interception picked off by Antwon Cromartie and returned for a touchdown to put the Chargers up 13-10 with 3 seconds left in the half, essentially to give the Chargers momentum to go into the 3rd quarter. Luckett then threw a flag onto the field and called a holding penalty on the Chargers to rid them of their touchdown and give the Colts the lead going into the half. The holding call is still widely disputed among NFL officials since it is unaware where it took place on the field. The Chargers eventually wound up losing the game 7-10.

(I was just being ironic. I don't really think that the game is rigged or that the Colts are lucky. Bad calls happen in every game. I'm just mocking those who say those things in every Pats game thread, and ESPECIALLY those who legitimately argue that any game outcome is "tainted" by bad calls or rigging. My bad for being too subtle).

Edit: And I realize that the whole thing has reached the point of obnoxiousness, and I'll stop now.
