I'm in the same boat. I believe it's just the site's way at laughing at the quality of your computer. It should say, no chance buddy and have a link to download pong or something.

I got a phone call from my preorder at the local GameStop, saying it'd be ready for picking tomorrow afternoon.

i surprise a lot of you are getting it right away without any first impression on how good the AI will be.

i going to wait and see first.

i probably pick it up at circuit city for 49.99 and you get a free $10 gift card.

But wont open it until i hear how good the AI is. i wil have up to 30 days for a refund.

Today. the chat room is still going on still . Lots of people there talking Civ 4

The big special day has finally arrived!!! It happens only once every 5 or 6 years, and is definitely a day worth celebrating! Release of Civilization IV is not the only event for the day also -- today is also our forum's 5 year anniversary! It's a very wonderful co-incidence.

To celebrate both events, we invite you to join our Civ4 Release & Forum Anniversary Party starting today in our IRC Chat Room.

The IRC Chat Room can be accessed using the Java chat interface, or you can use an IRC client, such as mIRC, to view it. The IRC server is at irc.irc-chat.net and the channel is #civfanatics.

or java chat room if you dont have MIRC

d00d, that's been said for about every game that has come out.

If you don't think my question was hard enough, how about "I want to know about the AI before I open the game but I have no idea what I am talking about?"

Some parts of the chat log from civfanatics:
Quote:
[19:51] <@Chieftess> Question for Firaxis people: How many (and/or what )scenarios are with the base game?
19:54] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> the scenarios that come with the game are: American Revolution, Greek World, Earth 1000 AD and Desert War WWII
[19:54] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> there are some maps that went in also
[19:54] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> I made a map of Europe and other ones like South America and Africa
[19:54] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> not sure if they come with the game or not, but they'll be online either way

19:55] the utility that converts BMP to map will come with the game, right?
[19:55] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> TF: no, my BMP Map Convert utility will be a seperate download
[19:57] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> for the BMP Convert it takes a few BMP images (which have to be specially prepared) and turns it into a Civ 4 map
[19:57] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> fives images
[19:57] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> Terrain type, plot type (mountain, hills, flat, water), rivers, features (jungle, forest) and resources

20:00] <@Chieftess>Â Do they have any plans for distributing extra content via download for Mod creations?
[20:01] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> definitely
[20:01] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> we'll be putting up plenty of stuff on the website
[20:01] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> I have some stuff that will be going up there
[20:01] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> fan stuff will be there as well

20:32] <@Gogf> Colonel: Do you guys at Firaxis already have name selected for Civ IV's first expansion pack?
[[20:34] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> Expansion Pack name? no comment
[20:34] <+FIRAXIS_Trip>

[20:39] <@Gogf> Calinator: I've heard that there are no longer eras. If this is the case, at which point in the tech tree does the architecture in your cities change?
[20:40] <+Sirian> Calinator: There are eras. They work a bit differently now, though.
[20:40] <+Sirian> You can start in different eras. Later era starts will give you some extra units and all techs from earlier eras. (This is popular in MP!)
[20:41] <+Sirian> The eras will bring graphical changes too, but they no longer restrict your tech choices. You can have unresearched techs from the Ancient era and yet have arrived in the Industrial Era. First tech researched in an era moves you to that era.

Good News from the chat so far
http://www.civfanatics.com/chat/civ4...iraxis_QA.html

Quote:
FIRAXIS_Trip> Navies are more important now because the AI is better at landing troops now

<+FIRAXIS_Trip> the AI is better also which makes it more challenging

+FIRAXIS_Trip> the AI is also more engaging when it comes to diplomacy

FIRAXIS_Trip> if you attack someone while having open borders it will cancel the agreement and move your units outside
[20:07] <+FIRAXIS_Trip> no more ROP exploitation like in Civ 3
