this is a pretty common function of FOFC drafts, going back(I think) to the music draft where once you took a song from a band no other songs could be taken for that band. There were similar rules in the comedy draft with characters and comedians.

Since Madonna music has struggled to find a singer as widely recognized as a sex symbol until Beyonce came along. The difference is, Beyonce is actually hot unlike Madonna.

2. Celebrity Actor
3. Celebrity No-Talent, 1.4, Venus de Milo
4. Celebrity Athlete, 2.6, Allison Stokke

Bah. Beyonce was in my top 2 of the singers left. Now I have to cross my fingers that the other is still around in 13 picks.

I think Depp/ others who played Don Juan should be allowed. The literary version of Don Juan was taken, not the film version.

This was my debate for athlete. I'm afraid of the "don't pick a dude vote" so I went with Jennie Finch. Could be a bad decision, we shall see.

I was wondering the same thing. I considered this strategy with the idea that having the best dude in every category is better than having one or two good female picks and then a bunch of crappy ones.

I would hate to see this changed in middle of the draft.
It was stated in the rules and is part of the strategy.
It clearly played a part in PurdueBrad's pick.

I think there's a clear top athlete still on the board.

I don't think that's a very good strategy. Yeah, I'm biased, but a "sex symbol" is inherently female - almost by definition. We men objectify women about 1000% more than women objectify men.

That's a total generalization, I know, but I think it's pretty accurate. I mean, I don't care how "hot" you are, you'll never have a male athlete who has never won an event get multi-million-dollar endorsement deals just because of his looks (a la Kournikova).

There are some exceptions (Elvis comes to mind because of society's reaction to his hip rolling), but in general, the best male picks are usually going to fall behind a mediocre/good female pick, IMO.

You guys are insane, Jennie Finch is extremely hot. She just looks much better naturally than when she puts on a mound of makeup and does her hair all weird to make people forget that she's a softball player.

I can think of plenty of male actors (who I won't name for the purpose of the draft) who can't act worth shit and constantly churn out shit movies, but get paid more than the Paul Giamatti's (go ahead and use that one!) of the world because of their looks and the fact that they draw women to the box office.

Thank you. I took the "done up" photo as an example because I know how guys are here. It was a real toss-up. If you look at the img url it is http://idledreams.net/images/symbol_...nie_finch2.jpg.. whereas http://idledreams.net/images/symbol_...nnie_finch.jpg is in her uniform (although still a little done up)

More than just -the- face of the NBA during one of its most popular periods, his cologne sold extremely well and of course, who can forget his Hanes underwear commercials, both with and without Cuba Gooding, Jr?

The very pinnacle of athletic achievement and an advertising phenom with enormous sex appeal for women, who find him superfine. Men want to be him.

A simple delight to watch act and simply just to watch. Seems to be more popular among younger men than older men, though.

You got that right. She has no appeal whatsoever for me, esp. compared to some other girls around her age. But I seem to have a bias against anyone/anything that Izulde has ever picked in these drafts.

Btw, I like the Allison Stokke pick, whoever did that one.

9. Fictional (Literary)
10. Fictional (Theatrical) - 4.3 CJ Parker (Pamela Anderson)

So I was never a major Baywatch person, but was her lifeguard character considered a sex symbol during the show, at least more so than Pamela Anderson being the one who made her a sex symbol outside of the show? I figured this category should be evaluated as to whether or not the character was a sex symbol, regardless of the actor/actress.

Honestly, I have no idea how Anne Bancroft was viewed during her day...but I think her character was clearly a sex symbol despite (or in spite of) what people thought of her as a sexy actress.
