Oh man, Bill Simmons is gonna be dying over the "WNBA/NBA, mother/son" combo in his draft diary.

. Why do the Pacers seem to want to take sure things rather then take guys with a lot of potential. It's like when they chose Jamaal Tinsley over Tony Parker several years back. Look how that turned out. Stupid trade.

Man, there are a few prospects I would love the C's take a look at with the 30th pick including:

PG Mario Chalmers
C DeAndre Jordan
C Koufos

I think they have to go chalmers or chris douglas roberts (if he drops) - need to address the backcourt more than koufos and the frontcourt

the Knicks didn't need to pick the next Tim Duncan. if Gallinari turns into the next Detlef Schrempf, i'll be very happy with that. sometimes you need to pick up solid guys who can contribute and maybe aspire to be an All-Star one year. that's a good draft. it doesn't take Jerry West or some guru to draft the Durants and the Wades and the Lebrons. teams are built by having your picks pan out. some will be superstars, and you hope the ones that aren't can stick around for a bit and be a steady contributor or worst case scenario someone you can trade in a package for someone even better. between gallinari (if he pans out), David Lee, Robinson, Reynaldo Backman and Crawford, that's a decent group of under 30 guys that you can keep for a while.

Jeez, CDR completely slipped my mind. I agree though Chalmers then CDR. But I really would like to add an actual Center to backup Perk. Powe and Baby are just too undersized for Centers and PJ Brown is gone I'm assuming.

Nobody was looking for the next Duncan. But it would be nice if a team that couldn't play a fucking lick of defense drafted a guy who's biggest issue wasn't a complete lack of being able to stay in front of his man.

but veteran backup C's are a dime-a-dozen and the C's should be able to get one on the cheap

Dola .. Pistons figured to deal their first anyway because no one out there would've been al ock to make their roster, so the garaunteed contract was a waste.

Yep. I like it. Take three guys in the second, let them fight for spots and if they don't make it, no harm, no foul.

Giddens averaged 9 rebounds a game last year as a 6'5 SG, that's not bad. Plus he's been stabbed in a barfight, so he and Pierce can talk about that. I would've gone with CDR, Jamont Gordon or Bill Walker.

Give him a summer's worth of practices with Nelson, he'll be shooting 5 3's a game and averaging less than 5 RPG at the four spot.

I'm happy and surprised that McHale managed to take Mayo and resist the temptation to trade him for a lower pick and cash. Disappointed they didn't go with DeAndre Jordan in round 2. Probably a high chance he'll bust, but has the physical tools where he could be a good combo with Jefferson. It's probably a better chance he'd work out than taking a European center.

So McHale is going with a strategy of stockpiling 2nd round picks when he has trouble finding talent in the top 10. This should work out.
