What a crock. This is a rivalry game, and they throw a flag on a player celebrating a 4th down stop.

So does Georgia make it without playing in the SEC title game? That would be hilarious!!!

McCoy is a safe a bet as you can get from Pitt's point of view. He's a solid player.

They do release the individual ballots tomorrow to see where each voter placed each team right?

If I'm Pitt, I tell the punter to run into the end zone and run out the clock and take a safety.

Yeah, but maybe not quite as disciplined at this stage, like he just jumped up on that last play, which was not a smart decision.

This is like 2001 when there were several teams that could have made the BCS title game and lost on the last week of the season.

Let's not forget arguments from Va Tech, Kansas, USC, and if they win Oklahoma for that other spot in championship game.

Meh. To mean it should be between LSU and Hawaii. VaTech got pasted by LSU. USC lost at home to Stanford. Kansas = Georgia, if you're not even top 2 in your conference, how can you be top 2 in the country. Oklahoma would have the best argument other than LSU. |

Why does everyone forget about Hawaii's game against Washington? Even Hawaii's coach this week was talking about his undefeated season forgot he was playing Was this week.
I think Ty's team has a good shot at beating Hawaii tonight.

They way things have shaken out today, it would not be much of a shock to see the Huskies win. Hell, I think my beloved Horns might have a shot at a BCS game will all of the losses today.

I love it. My vote is to do away with the contrived Championship Bowl and just have the regular matchups in the normal bowls. Anything more would be just as contrived and stupid.

1. The officials from the WVU-Pitt game had been paid by either WVU or the Big East itself. How bad is it that I honestly think that the Big East purposely was trying to fix that game so their conference could make the title game?
2. Georgia and Kansas simply don't have a leg to stand on at this point. You can't play for the title if you can't win your conference. 3. Leaves VTech, LSU, Oklahoma, and USC in my opinion. 4. LSU beat VTech so VTech is out. Oklahoma: losses at COL by 3 and at TT. Big Wins versus Missouri twice and Texas. LSU: losses at UK by 6 and home against ARK by 2, both in OT. Big Wins versus V. Tech, Florida, Auburn, Tenn. USC: losses home against Stanford by 1 and at Oregon by 7. Big Wins versus ???? Arizona State? Who do you vote for? Last edited by rowech : 12-01-2007 at 10:33 PM. |

Even if Hawaii loses, they'll still be one of only 2 1-loss teams. I know they'd have no shot even at a BCS bowl in that case, but... I'm just saying, they'd have a better case for the National Championship than Georgia, for example. |

The whole system sucks. If they're not going to have a playoff, go back to the freaking old way. The only reason they won't have a playoff is because of "bowl tradition" so suck it up and just go all the way back because this system blows.

Did Mizzou B-Ball Fan make the trip to San Antonio? For all the shit he was talking in the Week 13 thread, he hasn't posted once in this thread.
I feel bad for the other Mizzou fans, but not for him.

No they don't, that's just silly. Pick one of the top 10 teams and most of any of their losses would be greater than all of Hawaii's wins. You got to play someone in order to be taken seriously. |

I think you meant paid by WVU but I'd have to agree. Especially the holding call on that 3rd down conversion then the lack of a pass interference or defensive holding call on the next play. |

I don't have a dog in the hunt of who goes. But as far as compelling TV, it's just not fun, it's not interesting and the entire sport is predicated upon arguing about who's better. It really sucks. I hope Hawaii wins, just to further expose the absurdity of the system. Besides, if Washington wants to fire Ty, I'd hate for him to hang on another year and actually have success. I'd rather him get canned and let the Buck Showalter effect take hold once again (not that Notre Dame won the World Series after he left, but go with it...)

I don't think Ohio State would be able to stop Hawaii's offense.

I tend to agree, but my point is just that you can construct a case for a 1-loss Hawaii over all the 2-loss teams - not that that case would necessarily be convincing. You couldn't even construct a case for Kansas, or Georgia (imo). |

So Mizzou might drop from the #1 team in the country to out of the BCS all together?

I love Mark May's thinking, basically that Ohio State doesn't deserve to play in the NC because they haven't played for 3 weeks and they didn't play all the teams in the Big Ten.
They'd been 3+ TD favorites against Iowa and Indiana, and its not like they didn't play 12 games. |
