Decent teams may very well eat this kid alive right now.

I've reached the point that I feel sorry for Spurrier, he just has no talent up there at all.

TD Air Force (again).

31-24 Vols, with 2:41 left.

Ainge has been very very good most of the night (although he threw a pick to keep them from sealing the game at 31-17). 24/29 for 342 & 3 TD's, but AF has nearly 300 yds rushing.

As Just a college football fan in general, I agree, let him be #1 for the whole season. expect good and bad, but towards the end of the season we could see some amazing things out of this kid.

Tennessee has given up 300 yards rushing to Air Force and also AF is about to score and tie the game late in the 4th Q

Interesting to see what halftime adjustments the teams make. It's 14-7 OSU, but just as easily could be 17-14 OSU. Both offenses have shown flashes of brilliance, but will either one be able to be more consistent in the 2nd half? Both defenses have played better then I thought they would.

Gutsy call in the UT game. AF goes for two and gets denied.

AF scores the TD, goes for 2 & fails.
Vols recover the onside kick this time, lead 31-30 with 1:35 left & just 1 timeout remaining for the Falcons.

In this case, I don't think it was. All the momentum was with AF, UT hadn't really stopped them all night, I think it was the right call (even thought it didn't turn out).

The UT defense looks as vulnerable as I have seen them in a while. They lost a starting safety early in the game to injury so now they have 2 starting defensive backs out and it shows. However, they have good depth and the best defensive coach in the nation. I think they will make adjustments and be okay in the 2nd half. Also, T. Smith should come down to earth soon - I hope. If Texas can get a turnover or something for some momentum it will really help.

The last time Troy Smith was down to earth was the game in the horseshoe last year. He's been sensational from that point on. If you are counting on him to cool off, I might think about plan B.

Nice sack by Texas. They need a stop here badly.

I don't blame him much for that one. He's not that big, and a QB sneak from outside the one wasn't a good call there. He was trying to stretch it into the end zone, 'cause clearly he wasn't gonna get the rest of his body in.

Eh, I'm just frustrated everytime I encounter SC with him at QB. Spurrier having him at QB reminds me of making Dale Earnhardt, Sr. drive a Pinto at Daytona

Being an Air Force guy I agree it was gutsy AND dumb. But, hey AF coach Deberry is anything but boring. AF played a great game and not so much the Vols played poorly.

I'll agree that AF played well, but this isn't the first time that an inability to game plan properly on the defensive side of the ball has been seen in Knoxville in recent years.

Give them 8 months to get ready & you get something like last week. Give them a difficult offense to defend however ... well, you saw the result of that tonight.

The kid is horrible at protecting himself. You never could get a clean shot on Vince. This kid has a bulls-eye on him. He runs the option well, but he has no real elusiveness, he takes shot after shot.

Smelley didn't look horrible last week. He can't be any worse than Blake. Granted, with that O-line I wouldn't want to sacrafice him, but still.

Texas is in some serious trouble now. They win the game, I'm impressed. You have to think Ohio State is going to try another bomb to Ginn here in a second. Around the 50 yard line, a chance for the kill shot. We'll see if Texas is ready.

How does the ref looking right at the tackle miss that face mask? It takes a flag from midfield for them to figure that one out? Wonder if that's the same dolt who called the personal foul on the hit on the QB.

Impressive drive by Ohio State. Stick a fork in Texas. They're done. No Vince Young to bail their ass out tonight.

Yep, but this loss can't be pinned on the play of Colt McCoy. Other than the INT at the start of the 2nd half, he played a pretty solid game.

In the Georgia-SC game when GA had a 15-0 lead and the Gamecocks were driving, The announcers said that you should kick the EP here and go for the 2 later. I have never understood this philosophy. In any situation where you're going to need a 2-pt. conversion (down by 11, 15, 22, 23, etc.) it seems to make more sense to go for the 2 pt. conversion right away. If you miss it, then you know you need to two more scores to win. If you make it, you don't need to hurry quite as much. However, if you kick the EP and then miss the 2pt. conversion on the next drive, then you might be looking at an onside kick as your best chance.Hhowever, whenever a coach goes for the two first, the announcers talk about it like it's the most vile thing a human being could do in this universe.

The referee called the personal foul, the linesman missed the facemask. We get the best views with all the camera angles. Its rough on field level because he could've been blocked out by another players.

The job of a linesman or line judge is this. If the play comes near you, you have the blocking in front until the runner comes into your area. Let the runner pass you and you are responsible for the spot and any block in the back, holding etc, behind the play. In that case the Back judge has the runner for facemask and such but not for the spot.

That's a bit generous. He's averaging 4.9 yards per pass attempt. He's going to have to do a lot better than that against teams with good defenses or else it might be a long year for Texas.

Yup, that's game, set and match.

Smith had an impressive game again. Ohio State looked as though they could do whatever they wanted, when they wanted it on the Texas D. If Smith hits the bomb to a wide open Ginn in the second quarter, it could have really gotten ugly.

Thing I'm stunned with is the Texas front four. I really thought they'd get more pressure on Smith, but they really didn't get a lot outside of some blitzes they ran. Ohio State didn't try to establish a running game, but when they did run, they ran the ball fairly well.

Ohio State, on the other hand, seemed to put pressure on the QB. (but Texas was able to gash them for some runs. . . they just couldn't do it consistently) No question about who deserved to win this football game. The better team won.

That's due to the play calling, not his play. I think they've only called 5 downfield pass plays the whole game. Everything else has been WR screens or 5 yard crosses. His passing has been pretty accurate, he had maybe three throws tonight that completely missed the mark.

Should have used the smiley. It was a joke. I know who called both plays and I know whose responsibility lies where. That said, the replay clearly shows the line judge with a clear view of the play and a clear view of the hand on the mask as it's being ripped around. He should have seen it.

It wasn't nearly as bad as the roughing the QB call. That's the only thing that allowed Texas to even get in the end zone tonight.

Then it's on the coaching staff. You put up 7 points tonight with an incredibly talented offense, straight across the board. If is was the play calling, that's on the staff. I thought he looked pretty good for most of the night, but made some key mistakes. The INT was a horribly thrown ball at the worst possible time.

He had a lot of dump offs, as you said, but he did have some middle of the field throws that I thought were inaccurate. He seems to excel at the sideline routes, and the middle of the field he struggles with. I give him a C+.
