1.8 Adolf Hitler - Evil Historical Person, World War II era
What more needs to be said? The one man I can think of that is universally hated the world over, save for perhaps a few fringe extremists. Directly responsible for the murder of millions, indirectly responsible for the deaths and shattered lives of countless more.

Hitler was someone I considered for #1 since I think he's a tad above everyone else who could be an Evil Historical Person.

Someone had PM'd me a question regarding taking "teams" of people, I emailed Chief to get the answer, I've answered Spleen privately but figured I'd post something here as well.
Teams of people will not be allowed. All picks must be done separately - one person per pick. If you have any questions, post them here or pm Chief and I.

1.10 Benjamin Franklin - Intellectual - 1700s
IMO, it's impossible to underestimate Franklin's importance to the founding of America. He could have easily been listed as a Diplomat for his numerous contributions the colonies from the Albany Pact to his dealings with France. You could even argue his abilities as a scribe because of his wit and wisdom in his publishing endeavors. However, Franklin is my Intellectual choice. The Franklin Stove, the lightning rod, his founding of libraries in Philadelphia. He was a true genius, and my personal favorite lesson to teach during US History. |

A lot of great picks out there, but Augustus to me was the strongest pick in that particular category. Julius Caesar was a better military leader, but Augustus was the more responsible for the Rome dynasty which shaped all of Europe and the future of civilization. |

I have Noop's pick, but I didn't get a category to put it in...at this point I don't think that matter, so if it's OK with you guys, I'll post it now and add the category later...that will help keep the draft moving. Post in the next 3 or 4 minutes if you have a problem with that.

That should be fine Olie, its the person that matters to everyone else. he can put them in whatever category he wants. We can't use the person either way.

I thought we'd be further along.
AE told me about the DaVinci pick. Personally, I don't weigh the categories in these games as strongly as other do, so you can't go wrong having DaVinci on your list. However, in a draft like this, we do have to be historically accurate, which makes it sort of challenging when a person covers two different eras. |

Okay, I do not have noop's first pick, but olie has that. Be sure to include both olie and me on pick PMs, everyone, so we can both help move the draft along.
noop said he would be out until 9, and he lives on the East Coast, which makes it 9 right now. Hopefully we will hear from him soon.

Unfortunately, no. I wasn't PM'd with noop's picks (I did get Racer's, thanks Racer). I knew the first day would be a little hit and miss as people get into the groove of things. Hopefully this will get people working on lists so we can keep things moving as much as possible. And definitely a good idea to send in a much longer list than is likely needed. If you send in just enough picks for your own, you risk that one of your choices may be taken before the draft gets to you, and then we get a hold up.

This morning, I made a matrix showing Chief's categories across the top and the eras down the side. I then, off the top of my head, filled in about 25 cells with what I thought were the obvious/best picks. It looks like that 8 (out of the 11 picks) are already gone. Nice work (including you, Izulde ). The matrix also made me realize were categories/eras I believe are going to be tough and which one are going to be throwaways.

Yeah, I wondered how that would play out. I figured the eras would change some approaches, and overvalue some categories and undervalue others. I haven't done any such layouts, because I want to be surprised by the choices you guys make, but I figured to see some interesting decisions.
