Yup it is part of the Tampa-Orlando feud. USF also doesn't want to play UCF because they don't think it helps them.

USF is also looking to keep it's ratings high, last week they scored a TD in the last minute against FAU.

When you are a team that is looked at somewhat skeptically, playing in what is perceived as a weak conference, you can't afford to have 2 extremely close calls to bad teams if you want to get into a BCS bowl game.

Fortunately for Hawaii, Boise State seems to have recovered from their loss to Washington and could well be 10-1 heading into their game with the Warriors. Fresno State also has a chance to be 6-3 or 7-2 (if they upset Boise) heading into their game with Hawaii, and if things go right for Washington they could be 6-6 and playing for a bowl when they play at Hawaii.

So there will be opportunities to get more poll respect, but you have to admit that the close calls they've had so far are understandable reasons for outsiders to view Hawaii with skepticism.

damn, I completely agree. good points.

and I think UW could be better then 6-6 , they are a solid team that could really mold into a good one the more the season goes on.

BC Really needs to score on this drive.. they've dominated ND but went for it and failed4th and 9 at the 25 one drive, and had a FG blocked on another drive, so they're only up 6-0.. you gotta put ND away early.

31-28 Rice over Houston with six and a half left in the first half. Does ANYONE in CUSA have a defense?!?

at least Hawaii doesn't have to worry about Wisconsin moving past them.

I've been optimistic, but at this point I'm thinking a .500 conference record for Bucky is best case scenario.

Mark Sanchez to Fred Davis for a 25 yd TD and USC takes the lead. This after a 45 yard punt return by Joe McKnight who is starting to look pretty darn good.

Run the ball, run out the clock, don't pile on.

Well, to be fair, they had also run for 178 yards on the day. The last TD was on a 4th-and-14 from the UCF 28 when USF was trying to run out the clock, but I guess they could have just pounded it and let UCF have the ball at that point. I have not seen the plays, so I do not know if they were throwing down the field (how far downfield was the 75-yard TD thrown?) vs how much the receivers were just running wild in the backfield.

Yes, I can see how it would be looked at as running up the score. I'd definitely be on board if Grothe was still in there. But when you're as surprising as USF is, I can see wanting to get some game experience for the backups to help cushion an injury to Grothe. That's my only point.

The BCS factors into this, too, when many of the voters only get to look at final scores, at least among the coaches. I really think the BCS has lent an air of credibility to running up the score, despite efforts to stop it. When everyone talks about "close wins", you do everything in your power to avoid one.

Besides, they get picked on for the late TD against FAU last week, and that was a running play.

Anyone see that block from the Mizzou OT on the double reverse for the TD just then? Ouch, those knees just buckled when he hit

And i think his right knee was down...still a great play by OU to keep going until the whistle, but this shouldnt stand as a TD. It seems to me he was down on on his knee before he rolled over the defender.

Backup QBs should get a chance to sling it around once in a while, so I have no problem with that.

A team losing by an extra touchdown or two (or three) has never hurt anyone.

Felt like I was holding my breath the last hour or so of this game, so I wasn't on here as I was pacing. That was an amazing punt. Sanchez made some very impressive plays this game, including the scramble late. He also made some stupid mistakes. Ditto for McKnight who looked very good on that punt return for 45 yards and then the 59 yard run but then he follows it up with a terrible fumble. USC needs to get some offensive linemen back healthy and it would be nice to get Cushing back. Hopefully, Rey Rey is ok for next week. Not an impressive win, but certainly better than last week.

I'm watching LSU/Kentucky now that the USC game is over and have been for a few minutes.. I was trying to flip back to this game during commercials. Looks like it has been a great game. Should be a fun ending.

Yeah - this has been one of those SEC games you think about with very physical play.. at least 4-5 guys have gone out of the game just because they got hit so damned hard (including that DB just now).

Very interesting call here. I'd do exactly what the announcer just said. Run it down and throw the Hail Mary.

The 3 YPA has way more to do with the Kentucky Defense than Matt Flynn. While he doesn't wing it like Russell did, this is abnormal for him.

It'd be a fitting tribute to this year if LSU loses, as it gets us that much closer to a no-name team into the national title game.
