Didn't see the FOFC sign unfortunately.

Didn't run well at all. Had a lot of problems in the race including getting low blood sugar towards the end so I walked almost the entire final two miles. I ended up with a 3:49 which was 42 minutes slower than I ran Columbus in. I definitely a bit upset about it but I'm sure in time I really appreciate the fact that I finished Boston. The percentage of runners who can say that is pretty small. The atmosphere was unbelievable though. My favorite part of the race was running by that all girls' college. They were loud and extremely enthusiastic. My goal is to still break 3 hours in a marathon.

Aww shoot. Sorry to hear about your problems Racer. But hey - like you said - at least you finished!! Come back and give it another shot next year and maybe break 3hrs?

FYI - I was in the little downtown right after the all girls college.

You have nothing to be upset about, running in the race at all is an amazing accomplishment you should be proud of.

Running the Boston is on a lot of people's bucket list, the fact you actually finished is quite an accomplishment.

Since I grew up like a half mile away?

Got even better when I got into my 20's...you should see some of the CRAZY parties they have there. Legendary. Well...just go read the Rolling Stone article...crazy scantily-clad pseudo-orgies.

Of course a fairly high % of the women are not all that attractive - this isn't some SEC school...it's full of Asians and geeks...but still.

Sounds like something that could possibly cure the epic drought that I'm in.

I can't find that Rolling Stone article, are you sure it's called "crazy scantily-clad pseudo-orgies"?

Also there is nothing wrong with Asians or geeks, they can be hot too.

Nothing wrong with Asians true. Didn't mean to imply that.

But some of the geeks at this school...yech.

LOL - well I know it was a Rolling Stone article - try "Rolling Stone + Wellesley College"

hxxp://jaydixit.com/writing/wellesley.htm

Not the article I was thinking of...I thought there was one that was more explicly about the parties, but there's something.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I'm definitely glad I was able to run in Boston even though I didn't run well. I'll probably run Columbus again in the fall (Chicago is full already).

I took some video with my ipod while running of the screaming girls of Wellesley. I will try to load and post it tonight along with other thoughts on the race.

Sorry to hear about your race, Racer.

The screaming (and kissing) girls start about 1:20 of this video.

My 3:14 proved to be just a bit too slow to get accepted for next year's race. To make a long story short, because of the demand, Boston changed the registration process the upcoming race. Instead of it being first come, first served for those with qualifying times, they took the best qualifying times in each age group. The cut off was 1:14 better than the qualifying standard (or, for me, 3:13:46).

Oh well. I'll have to get faster anyway, as next year the qualifying standard drops by 5 minutes.

Like Geoffrey Mutai, who won both events, I was 3 minutes and change off my Boston pace.
