Arizona's defense in the second half was stifling. There was a period with about 5 minutes left where Utah State was shooting 17% from the floor in the half.
Also, Lute should send a thank you note to the committee for giving them toughest 14 in their backyard |

Watching the LSU-UAB game, I feel like I could walk a few blocks to the local park and watch 10 guys meet up and run. I'm not saying it to be racist, but its just a group of guys making horrible passes, taking horrible shots, doing a bunch of careless dribbling. Its just an ugly f-in basketball games.
And whatever happened to only being able to pivot with one foot? I see too many times where guys pivot with one foot, get trapped, then spin and plant with the other foot, and the refs do nothing. I swear I couldn't be a ref, because the games would cease to exist if I were there, with all the carrying and traveling that goes on. |

I would much rather watch a tied Tech-UCLA game then a 1-16 seeed game. This sucks.

The Tech-UCLA game is great basketball. People hitting open shots, great offensive moves, low number of turnovers and great player movement. UCLA is doing a lot better than I thought they could to this point. While I picked Tech, I find myself rooting for the Bruins.

FDU played a great 1st half vs Illinois. Hopefully they can keep it close in the 2nd.

I'm 12 for 12 so far. I had dreams of a perfect first day, but it looks like they are starting to slide. I have Illinois, Texas Tech, West Virginia and LSU tonight.
Three holding onto slim leads and LSU getting rocked. LSU looks like it'll be the end of me. I have them going out in the next round anyway, so it won't be a disaster if they lose. I hope I can hold on with the other three games and go 15/16 today. |

How is Illinois the #1 overall seed in the tournament if UNC plays the winner of the play-in game?

Can you come by the NC State board sometime and try to convey that to people there? A lot of them are in heat over the guy and it puzzles me to no end. His one singular moment was getting into a shouting match with Dean Smith when he was coaching Clemson. For a lot of State fans, that seems to be enough to make him the best coach if/when Herb Sendek is ever dismissed/retires/leaves for another job. Granted, his NCAA results are better than Herb's, but not substantially so, and State fans have a severe inferiority complex because of the success of Duke and Carolina. He's not the guy to move us into that neighborhood, I don't think. Then again, there are some who are so sick of the current regime, they'll take anything and hope it's better. |

Because the committee opted to give Illinois geographic advantage rather than seed advantage. The Indy games are Thurs/Sat and the committee doesn't want to have the play-in winner playing two days later, so they essentially have #1 playing #63, while #64/#65 got to play for the right to meet #2 because #2 plays on Friday. |

Farleigh Dickinson played farleigh well for a 16 seed. I think I just made myself puke with that one.

I went 13 of 16 today. Alabama really screwed up my bracket as I had them in the Sweet 16. That is the last time I listen to Digger Phelps. I missed the Alabama, Iowa, and Creighton games.

Probably the best first day I've ever had. 15/16 with only the LSU/UAB game costing me.
Won't matter. I'll be toast by the weekend, but it's fun to start off this well. |

And for the god knows how many straight year, my bracket collapses on Thursday night. I always pick great during the day games, but the nights always kill me... weird. Thankfully, only one of the teams I missed I have going farther than the sweet 16, so I haven't royally screwed it yet.

14/16 in two of my ESPN brackets.
Creighton and Iowa in one and Creighton and UTEP in the other. Still have all my Sweet 16 alive.

thats uab's style of offense, lsu got sucked into it because they figured they were superior because they came from the $ec.. Having watched Louisville play uab twice this year.. they are a total nightmare to play.. and i'm sure glad we most likely won't play them again |

15/16 on ESPN. Missed LSU. I went for a few crazy upsets on yahoo (Utah St. over Arizona is the only one that comes to mind) and didn't do as well.

12/16 so far on Yahoo. I thought I would do better, but I went for too many upsets. Picking UCLA, Creighton, UTEP and Iowa. None of those messed up my sweet sixteen though, so I'm in good shape. I also got all the games right in the Chicago region. Hopefully Wisc. Milwaukee make my dreams come true and beat Boston College. The other thing I'm worried about is Texas Tech. I knew if they got past the first round they could be Zaga, that would screw up my 16.

I shouldn't be at my god damn computer, I should be watching the Gophers. But some jackass decided, at the 17:00 mark in the 2nd half, that the NC State-Charlotte game should be shown up here in Minnesota instead. WTF??
I'm pissed. They aren't even on the radio. |

What's so hard to understand? I'm stuck watching the other early games here in Moorhead, Minnesota. The Gophers have been within 9 points since they switched over at the 17 minute mark. |

Man, Florida was trying to deep throat the basketball late in the 2nd half, weren't they? Looks like they're going to pull it out tho.

Seems like most people had Florida winning a game or two so it didnt look like it would affect brackets much. Still woulda been fun to see FL lose along with the rest of their SEC pals
