I'm willing to proxy for anyone who wants me to do so. I'm off work today and tomorrow. I will have to run a few errands mid afternoon today, but otherwise will be around.

I like all the guys I have, I just think there's a bit of a drop off in terms of young QBs after those two. Actually in Bulger's case a lot of it's just that I'm a big WVU fan so I really wanted to get him.

Very nice.. I'm surprised Henry lasted this long.. I almost took him instead of Stephen Davis, and I would have if I wasn't worried about McGahee taking away too many carries from him. At this point, I think Henry is an excellent pick.

Thanks, he's actually slightly lower on my board than his average draft position, but I couldnt pass him up in the 3rd round.

I just sent my picks to Eaglesfan. Just a suggestion but as we get closer to the start of the season and we haven't finished drafting yet, mabye we should institute a mandatory rounds completed per day rule and anyone who hasn't completed there picks they get a player from the preranked list.

Good idea Lathum, or maybe we can adjust the time limit for picks.
I can't stress enough to everyone that if you are going to be unavaliable, just let me know. A list of 10 players should usually cover your picks and can be done in a matter of minutes. Don't get stuck with a Sportnews "sure thing"! |

Sachmo,
I just sent you a short proxy list that should cover my pick if Aylmar comes back soon and makes his pick. I have to run an errand that should only take about an hour. I'll be back in plenty of time to make Lathum's pick and I suspect I'll be back before both of my picks are done. Thanks.

I've got to move the official draft times, since I go to bed at 10. Official draft time will end at 10pm CST and begin at 8am CST.
You aren't limited to these times, but we can't have the clock running when folks are sleeping. Well, most folks. Sorry, HB! |

I'd assume Aylmar is probably asleep (something I should be as well), so I figure the draft will pick up tomorrow. How many rounds are we doing? We seem to be hitting some good strings at certain times.

I might be mistaken, but I think it is 16 rounds? I know we have 8 starters, and I think 8 reserves. Yep, just checked our web site. 16 rounds.

NOTE: Please don't take this as criticism of anyone in particular, just a general observation / suggestion.
Others have noted that at the pace at which we're currently drafting, we won't finish before the season begins. I think we should take steps to ensure we finish up on time. Since scheduling 12 people together could be difficult, our best chance to finish up will be on FOFC. To do so, I compiled this list as a suggested minimum draft round to be completed by specific days: Aug 31st - 5th, 6th Sept 1st - 7th, 8th Sept. 2nd - 9th, 10th Sept. 3rd - 11th Sept. 4th - 12th Sept. 5th - 13th Sept. 6th - 14th Sept. 7th - 15th Sept. 8th - 16th That means that the next few days would be a bit hectic, since that would average to a pick an hour (and that includes early morning sleeping hours...for most anyway HB ). Alternatively we could move the double days to the 6th, 7th, and 8th since it would more involve late round picks anyway, but I thought giving a little buffer till then would be better (feel free to disagree). What this means: Basically that we'll have to make the picks faster and pretty much anyone who isn't completely sure they'll have access during a time when they'll be on the clock will have to give sachmo or someone else their list so things can move along and the person won't get the SportingNews choice. It also means sachmo will pretty much have authority to decide a person didn't make a pick soon enough for us to finish that day and make the executive pick. If anyone has a better recommendation for completing the draft, I'm all for it. I just threw this together as a possible idea. And lastly again, please don't take any offense to this. I understand we all aren't on FOFC 24 hrs a day like I am......I just think it'd be a good idea to have some plan like this to follow so we can ensure we get our league draft completed in time for the season. Thank you and good night. EDIT: Made a list because the formatting sucked. Last edited by JAG : 08-30-2004 at 11:20 AM. |

Sounds like the 6 hour limit may be too high. What should we change it to in order to guarantee sticking with this schedule? 12X2=24, but taking out 8 hours for sleeping...I suck at this sort of thing.
I think 2 hours is too short, so I'm looking at 4 hours per pick as a good range. Would that work? Also, the list is always an option if you are going to be away from your computer for a while. Did I mention the list option? |

4 hours per pick wouldn't work IF everyone (or even a few people each round) takes the full time of that 4 hours. If everyone had turned in a list, then we could do this much more easily. I'd suggest a 2 hour time limit starting tomorrow unless the pace picks up dramatically today. I know that it is tough to check the board throughout the work day, but that is why the list option is such a good idea.

To be honest, I can count on many to make their picks within minutes of their turn coming up, but it's not fair to count on that.
If I make the time limit two hours, then people are going to get screwed. |

Even with a 2 hour limit, let us imagine if just 4 of the 12 owners took the full 2 hours and the rest took 15 minutes each to make their picks. With only 14 hours of clock time per day (as set by the 8 AM start and 10 PM ending time for the "clock" each day) we would only get through a round in 10 hours and therefore 1.4 rounds per day. Since we still have over 12 rounds to go, that would be cutting it very very close to the time that the NFL kickoffs. Of course, if more than 4 owners took even the 2 hour time limit each round, we'd be in trouble. |

I'm not suggesting you change it now. However, I'm recommending you change it for tomorrow unless our pace drastically improves today. It would be strong encouragement for people to submit a list, and as I mentioned in my last post even with the 2 hour limit we would be cutting it close to the start of the NFL season if we continue to have the same proportion of owners using up most of their clock time. |

I would suggest that we go on doing the draft as we have been, until are starters have been filled.... then maybe a list draft to finish up.....
