And just when I thought the show couldn't have gotten cheesier .

Of course, without ratings, we'll be at this same point next year. I don't think the nuts ploy will work again.

I think the first week or two will draw an increase in ratings because of all the media attention the show has gotten recently. Hopefully Jericho can sustain that bump and it lasts more than 7 episodes. Either way, great news that the show is being brought back for a partial season.

Next year, I bet the rallying call is "tarantula"......god forbid if CBS cancels them that time.

Jericho reruns begin tonight at 9/8c, for anybody who needs a refresher or just plain wants to start watching.

Ouch.

“Jericho” fans may not have done a good enough job getting the word out about their famously uncanceled show’s return. While last night’s season two premiere fared better than the first-season finale, it was still off from the show’s first-season average and finished second in its new timeslot.

“Jericho” averaged a 2.5 adults 18-49 rating in the 10 p.m. Tuesday slot, according to Nielsen overnights, up 19 percent over last spring’s finale, when it aired at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

But that was still 11 percent off the show’s 2.8 average last season and down 22 percent from a 3.2 for its first-season premiere. “Jericho” finished behind a repeat of NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in the timeslot, though its rating did remain steady from its first to its second half hour.

Shit I hadn't even heard that it was back yet. So, I think it is true they did a poor job of advertising the return of the show. I am guessing this was done pruporsely by the network to be sure this show dies.

So if anybody's still watching, am I the only one who's able to respond to tonight's episode only in expletives?

I think one of the problems with low ratings might be the fact that the first three episodes were leaked. Someone created torrents from a 3-episode preview copy sent out by CBS to reviewers and made them available weeks before the first episode of the season premiered. I think that the 4th episode will have higher ratings (if the show isn't cancelled) than the first three.

Just watched the latest ep. When season 2 started I was wondering what happened to all the "kids". Hawkins kids, dale and his chick, the deaf girl. I don't think any of them were in the season 2 premiere. Now they're either being arrested or killed.

Bummer of an ending.

Bombs Away: CBS Cancels Jericho (Again)

National upheaval caused by a nuclear assault? Easy. Nielsen ratings? Hard. Despite efforts from zealous fans to keep Jericho alive — including the now-famous peanut incident — Tuesday's episode will be its last.

"The March 25 episode... will be the series finale," CBS entertainment boss Nina Tassler says in a statement. "Without question, there are passionate viewers watching this program; we simply wish there were more. We thank an engaged and spirited fan base for keeping the show alive this long, and an outstanding team of producers, cast and crew that went through creative hoops to deliver a compelling, high-quality second season.... We're proud of everyone's efforts."

Two "finales" were filmed for Tuesday: one that left viewers with a cliff-hanger (in the event of a Season 3), and one that resolves things a bit more. The latter edit, now headed to your screens, will leave fans "not too happy,"

Dola,

Although I wonder why they didn't see if CBS would let another network pick them up for a season 3 and run with the cliffhanger instead.

This didn't feel like a door slammed shut to me.

Spoiler

I think barring CBS having renewed the show for season 3, I'm as happy with the way season 2 ended as I could be.

I wonder what the cliffhanger ending would have been? The bomb going off? In Texas?

I don't know how that'd be any MORE of a cliffhanger than what we've got already. I mean, it would have had the same net effect, no?

Well, yeah but you get a mushroom cloud. Mushroom cloud > Skeet Ulrich staring out into space.

What a bummer, it seemed they had a pretty good storyline with the next civil war about to happen

That's what gives me hope, though. The fact that they DID set up a way for the story to continue and not go scorched earth and kill everybody.

It may be done on CBS, but it's not like they left it so destroyed that nobody else would touch it.

I'm just wondering if it is to big budget for a network like sci fi to pick up

My guess would be that the budget would be smaller than Galactica, but it's just a guess. Anyway, read this for a ray of hope:

Season 2 on DVD today!

Hopefully it enjoys strong sales. That might encourage someone to pick it up.

I'd imagine there have been talks but they wanted to see if there's any post-cancellation support as far as DVD sales go before they commit to bringing it back. If it proves still financially viable, that's a powerful boost to its future on another network. If sales are laggard, well...why would you invest in a show whose support seems to have withered?

Nothing wrong with being hopeful. I'll admit I've been hunting for news myself.

But justified or not, you gotta figure any network is going to be a little leery of picking up a twice-canceled show without some kind of proof of financial solvency.
