How about having a top 6 pick and the benefit of not losing a 1st rounder if you wanna make a free agent splash?

Ann Arbor only has to win to clinch a playoff spot. Spring has to beat Portland and hope for New York to beat Ann Arbor to tie and force a best of 3 playoff series with Ann Arbor.

Looks like we'll both enjoy the benefits of a top 6 pick.

New York 11, Ann Arbor 6
Spring 10, Portland 5

Ann Arbor 88-74
Spring 88-74

The two teams end the season tied and are now forced to play a best of 3 playoff vs each other. Ann Arbor had the better head to head record during the season over Spring 17 to 16, so will have home field advantage in the three game playoff.

Well, we tried hard to give the playoff spot to one of the other teams, but none of them seemed to want it, so I guess we'll take it.

And of course given the way the regular season went I think this means we're nicely setup to sweep London in the playoffs, probably in dramatic blowout fashion each game...

I knew my bullpen was gonna be rough when I pulled 3 of my relievers into the rotation but I think it was ultimately the correct path. My 3 pitch starters after Arai were dreadful.

I always root for the underdog in this sense (not a personal thing London). I'll be watching and rooting you along.

I like the fast pace of the league because you get the bad seasons behind you quickly.

WTF do you do when every season is a bad season?

Joking answer: Slip something into London's team bus.

Serious answer: Plan a rebuild around a core of 3 strong starting pitchers roughly the same young age that are prospects. Look at the rest of your team and find anyone that is a few years or more older than that age range and start shopping them around for more prospects that can fall into that age range. If you can't find anyone to trade for certain pending free agents, let them walk at the age of 30-32 when still attractive to other teams to pick up to get back type A/B compensation instead of just holding onto them and letting them leave at age 36+ when it is less likely other teams will pick them up.

Edit: And don't rush up your young prospects until you are ready to compete as a team, or they are old enough that you need to in order to not stunt growth. That will save you service years that you can keep your team together. (ie: bringing up a stud pitcher at 22 instead of 25 means you have to pay them big bucks 3 years earlier down the road.

After checking out the file my relief unit wasn't so bad after all. I guess my boys were just a bit unlucky.

My offense was very poor in a few areas. Good news is I have a 3 bats hitting AA/AAA (looking like they're developing decently) and a huge amount of cash to spend in the coming seasons.

I think I'll break into the postseason very very soon.

I knew my team was good and I was gunning desperately for the playoffs this year. But I didn't know if we'd falter or not. I couldn't be happier with that outcome.

Wow....my pen must be the horribleness I was expecting. Our record in 1 run games is awful. Also, I thought it was pretty funny that in the RL the top 3 teams all played well under expected. It was like a battle of who could back into the playoffs first.

Congrats fellow playoff teams. Like I say in FOOL, good luck unless you're playing me!
