Since I stopped drinking caffeine 6-7 months ago, I've been drinking tea at work on occasion, probably 2-3 times a weeks. I'll only drink English or Irish Breakfast teas though, since I dislike that thin green tea-ish crap. I also like to put a little cream and sugar in the tea.
Since my tolerance for caffeine is so low now, just the miniscule amount of caffeine in the tea is enough to give me a little buz, but not make me crash afterwards.

My wife got me hooked on Arizona Ice Tea, the decaf version. My doctor says it is good for me too, so I keep drinking it.

I prefer herbal tea with 1 packet of Splenda but I'm trying to ween myself to none at all. Loose tea is much more flavorful and if I can get my hands on some, I'd prefer those, but yeah, no caffeinated tea for me either.

I actually used to manage a tea shop on Newberry St. here in Boston for a while, and while I'm not a fanatic, I'm a bit of a snob. Dragon Pearl Jasmine is my fav. The taste/aroma is heaven. Also a fan of Ti Guan Yin, which is hand-picked by trained monkies. Both teas (especially the Ti Guan) are very, very good for you. Rooibos bush tea is herbal, but also very good for you.
I could go on forever about tea, but I won't. I have a game to plan for. |

I'm a fan of both hot and Iced Tea. It has to be Black Tea, not Green.
My favorite is Darjeeling...whole leaf SFTGOP..I think that is the grade. I'm a Tea snob of sorts I guess. If you have a nice cup of Darjeeling tea, I'm convinced you'd taste the difference. There simply isn't a doubt. For Iced Tea, there are some Assam and other Indonesian teas. In a dramatically non-snobby move, I'll add that there are some flavored teas...Cranberry comes to mind, that are fantastic cold. Cranberry is a bit syrupy if prepared hot...In the dead of winter I'll also break open some Orange cinnamon tea. |

I have one cup of coffee a day (18 oz tumbler), then I switch to hot tea. I am actually trying to drink less soda.
I like a wide variety of types, and am always looking for new suggestions. One I'd like to try is White Ginger Tea Right now I'm drinking a pear white tea from Teavana. I typically don't sweeten it, but if I overbrew it, I find that a little honey helps. /tk

Love English tea ... preferably a bog standard cuppa like Tetleys, but at a push I'll have something posh like Earl Grey if thats the only thing available.
(on the American front I've also acquired a taste for Sweet Iced Tea since moving over here - I've found that American tea is great cold and English great hot .... don't try and do use them the other way around though imho) |
