Little Ole' Man (Uptight Alright) - Bill Cosby
Wild Thing - Senator Bobby
Undercover Angel - Bobby O'Dell
Kookie Lend Me Your Comb - Edd Byrnes
Some William Shatner, etc.

To me, this is the greatest playlist of all time.

See, I'm reading everybody else's list thinking 'I love Modest Mouse and Neil Diamond and ELO'. Hell, I've got Murray Head records and Rupert Holmes' OTHER single, ABBA and Carpenters records up the wazooo, and basically none of this stuff is phasing me....but your list, my friend, contains some truly horrible music that you definitely should be ashamed of. Three of those songs make me physically sick.

My own embarrasing song...let's see....Cher - 'Believe'. MMMmmm.

I sing along in the car to some lousy stuff they play on Sirius. That goddamn awful Panic at the disco song for instance. And i enjoy forcing my wife to listen to some Dashboard Confessional, it's just so awful it's brilliant.

A Simple Plan's song "Untitled---How could this happen to Me" is one of those awful songs I put on a CD. I don't know why but it always makes me smile.

I also have several theme songs from various computer games from my youth, including some that have since been remixed.

Thread over. I win.

Man in Motion was/is still one of my favorite songs. It's actually on my MP3 workout folder. The I Wish I was Your Lover song I think is just a very sexy song.

Two songs...

"I Will Survive"

and

"It's Raining Men"

The other day they came on one after the other while my wife and I were driving around. She just looked at me and said "Do you have something you want to tell me?"

I also like that new Shakira/Wyclef song. I was forced to hear it about a million times, then i found myself genuinely liking it.

I've caught shit for somewhere around 50% of my music tastes. But I'm not embarassed.

Abba, Enya, Heart, Journey, Air Supply, Starship, Stevie Nicks, just to name a few...hell, I even have a Xanadu CD laying around here somewhere.

Now THIS is the proper response to the question. How can you be embarrassed by it if you like it?! That's like admitting you have shitty/questionable tastes. It's only "embarrassing" by way of comparison to others' tastes - which don't (or shouldn't) matter to you.

I'm not necessarily embarressed by any of mine, but some samples that I'm sure at least some of you guys wouldn't want to be seen in public with:

- Tons of Broadway (Aida, Chess, Les Miz, Wicked, etc.)
- Couple 100 Christmas songs (even in July)
- Various cartoon movie music (Aladdin, American Tail, Anastasia, etc.)
- Spice Girls

Three specific tracks:
- Three Lions (Lightning Seeds)
- Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (Andrews Sisters)
- She Ain't Worth It (Bobby Brown & Glenn Medeiros)

Do I win?

Embarassing Songs

Well, the most embarassing song I like is Rick Dee's Disco Duck. The second most embarassing song I like would have to be . . . Feelings by Morris Albert. Hey, it's a 70's thing. Coolest new song I've heard in a long darn while, Nickleback's Just A Couple Animals. I owe that one to my kids.

P.S. What was wrong with ELO's It's A Living Thing? It still rocks after thrity years!

If you're not too embarrassed to like ELO (and you shouldn't be), check out the ELO tribute project called LEO:

http://myspace.com/bleuleo

L.E.O. is a power-pop-collective..a recording project that began as a tribute to the idiosyncratic genius of Jeff Lynne and the Electric Light Orchestra. It has become a Traveling Wilburys-esque creative outlet for a gang of like-minded musician/producers...it was originally conceived by Bleu and includes the diverse talents of Andy Sturmer (Jellyfish), Mike Viola (The Candy Butchers), Jason Scheff (Chicago), Steve Gorman (The Black Crowes), Matt Mahaffey (Self), John Fields (big-time pop-producer), Tony Goddess (pApAs fritAs), Hanson, Eric Barao (The Cautions), Scott Simons (The Argument), and Paula Kelley, among others..

Yeah, but it makes for a far less interesting thread. So pretend to be embarrassed already, goddammit.

I'm a big Journey fan. One of my older brothers listen to it when I was younger and it stuck with me. Most of my buddies think I'm weird for liking them.

At least Ksyrup's wife and I have something in common.

If you're a Journey fan (and even if you're not), you should read this Idiot's Guide to Journey from one of the best music blogs on the net:

http://jefitoblog.com/blog/?p=807#comments

Jefito posts about 90% of his own material, but on the Idiot's Guides, he usually gets help from others. Following Journey was a nice Idiots Guide to They Might Be Giants. I find his blog to be crucial reading, and he always has tons of rare/bootleg recordings for download on his site.

I didnt think this thread would be filled with songs by Avril Lavigne and 80s hit songs. I was expecting Hanson or the Spice Girls or something else of the sort. I like most of the groups/songs listed. And props to Ryche for Shakespears sister, I havent thought about them in a long time but liked some of their songs.

Uh....nothing embarrasing about the Rocky 4 soundtrack. That is one helluva soundtrack. War and Training Montage are my favorite tracks. I have a number of soundtrack CD from Gladiator to Lord of the Rings. I even have the theme music for the television show called "The Contender".

But okay, I don't get the fascination with the Karate Kid soundtrack.

You know, Hanson gets a ton of shit, but I don't find it to be deserved. Yeah, they annoyed the hell out of all of us as pre-teens, but they've since grown up and still play and write their own songs. They aren't great, but they're pretty good, and I'd rather listen to them than most of what's on radio these days. At least, their 2004 album, not the kid stuff.

Agreed. I like some of the music from both groups ( ducking tomatoes and insults ). Their image is what hurt both groups. Somehow MTV can still influence who is cool and who isnt, even without playing 1 single video anymore. The fact is even if you didnt like their music both groups sounded good together when they sang, their voices complemented eachother well, which cant be said about some groups today who are wildly popular.

Ahhh okay. I have my share of 80's cheese, but they are usually samplings of numerous artists. Sorry to question the quality of your cheese.

Does it have anything to do with the first stanza?, Specifically "you say he loves you more than me" which infers he's bisexual and attracted to the voice of the song, i.e. a male.

or is it because of the first line, you come and ask me, girl, to set you free, girl. Innuendo is all I'll say.
