Man, this stuff is a crack up.

Still don't know what happened with the crazy chick, but I have been chatting with another girl and we're supposed to try and go out tomorrow (no set plans yet).

One thing that has stood out to me about this so far. Unless you look like Tom Cruise or something, just describing how you're a great guy in your profile doesn't seem to work. I re-worked my profile to basically say, "I got my bleep together, and if you can't see that, take a hike..." and now I am getting a lot more interest, LMAO.

The weird thing is, two contacts I have are from a girl from Ghana and a girl from Armenia, both hot. And I know they're just looking for a free ride to the States, but it was trippy all the same. I talked to the girl from Ghana, and she was talking love right away. That kinda weirded me out.

Since I choose not to see women that have kids, I wouldn't know. I have plenty to choose from, so I know there are a lot without kids.

Is there some sort of way to get a free trial on match.com if you were on it before and quit?

I was looking thru it today and one woman stood out. But I don't want to have to blow $30 just to send an email to someone who will most likely not respond...

If you come back right now, I believe there is a free 3 day or 7 day trial promotion going on. Also, you might contact customer service and see what they say.

For the company's sake, I sure hope they don't make a habit of giving out freebies to everyone who calls/emails with the "I think I just saw the love of my life's profile, can you give me a free pass to contact her?" story.

If a few free days get's a paying customer back, it's worth it. It's pretty easy to identify if someone is abusing the system, too.

So if someone gets a freebie, makes a contact, has a great date, gets laid, then comes back as a paying customer... what does that make you guys?

Miracle workers, I'd say. If a guy has a profile that gets him a date in three days, he probably doesn't really need out help to meet ladies. The odds of that happening are pretty slim.

Do employees get to hit on as many as you want to, and on company time?

And I agree that in three days you'll never find someone. With a profile like mine, in three years I couldn't...

I miss the messenger service. I would rejoin and pay if that were still up. Why'd they kill it? Is it because people were more successful with it and ended up paying less $ over time? The only success I ever had on match was when the messenger system was in place. Without the messenger I talked to three women on the phone inseveral one month trials. With the messenger I was talking to five withing two weeks!

I actually would get the occasional email from a woman when my profile wasn't hidden. What kills me is that I specifically would outline things like "Within 5 miles" and surely some woman from 50 miles away who doesn't physically fit what I am looking for will email me. I live in Manhattan. I really don't want to travel all the way to Brooklyn for a woman, why would I go to Jersey?

Not sure. I guess you could check your account while you are at work, but I don't think it would be a very productive use of time. You would have to be caught red-handed, though.

Try updating your profile, or adding some more pictures. Or maybe you would have more success with a site that limits your matches for you, like eHarmony.

It's being looked at. Usually when they yank something, it's because it has a negative affect on subscriptions.

Unfortunately, what you are looking for is not featured very prominantly on your profile display. Most people probably don't even know where to find it. All they care about is if you fit into their search criteria. We're working on improving the profile process, though, so hopefully we can clear some of these issues up. I'm not a huge fan of the GUI. I think it can be improved. Keep an eye on us, though. Things change pretty quickly around here, but the bottom line (besides profit) is matching people and helping them find companionship.

Online dating is one of those things that would have been interesting to experience, but I hope I never get the opportunity. The wife and I have been together, in one form or another, since 1991.

I'm pretty sure I hadn't even heard of "the internet" in 1991. I remember getting a Compuserve account at some point during 1993. I also remember learning that Curt Cobain had killed himself while surfing the web - the first real "news" item I can recall hearing about for the first time on the web. That was April of 1994, I think.

The timeline:

Sat night: See pic & read profile. Am quite impressed. Still, I know that if I sign up and write to her I'm throwing $30 in the toilet.

Sunday: Thought about how nice the profile was. Went back to see if it was the Sauza (Tequila) or if she really looked that good. Still impressed. Winked at her. Came here and started this up...

Monday 7:21pm: Broke down and signed up. Wrote to her.

Monday 8:21pm: Received response from her.

Tuesday evening: After several emails, the 1st phone call.

Wednesday evening: Cancelled match.com subscription. Talked more on phone.

Thursday: More phone & emails. We're going out Friday night.

I'm sure that any time now I'm going to wake up and find out I was in a coma induced by high fever...

Damn dog, nice work. Usual I get stuck with email conversations for about a month before the first date. Good luck.

I just got an "Ice Breaker" from a good looking chick on Yahoo Personals, we shall see what happens.

I am real surprised that so many people meet this way. I just never even contemplated it in my single days. It is a cool concept, but only if you need this type of service.

Most people use our service and Yahoo in addition to offline dating. For folks in the professional world (see between the ages of 35-55), we are a hit.

She was no great thing, but it feels weird not knowing what the sudden trunaround was caused by.

Guess I shouldn't have mentioned midget porn.
She may have been a bit bi polar or somethin'.

As it is, that pic of me that I posted in jest used to have my ex in it. I love photoshop! (That's the only pic I removed her, not because I'm bitter or anything, but just because I love that pic & to use a pic with an ex would just be inappropriate to me.)

She posted on Match.com. She just gave the whole internet permission. You just need to tell us which one she is.

Friday night I got home and messed around on Yahoo Personals, I ended up trying to talk to this very attractive girl. She asked me a question, I answered, then she said she had to go because her friend needed to use the computer to write a paper. I was thinking that is odd that someone would write a paper at 2:30am but whatever, she is blowing me off. She asked for my email address.

Today I get an email, from I am guessing it is her. Its says stuff like the following:

"Do you remember me, we chatted the other day on Yahoo.com? We had a really
short chat while I was at my friend's house. Sorry I logged off so quickly, my friend needed to use the computer. Anyways lets pick up where we left off.."

"I strongly believe that intimacy is a very important part of a relationship, along with honesty and trust. But, I want to know someone before I become intimate. After I get comfortable with the person I'm with...then I want it all the time, hope you can handle it! hehe"

"I also have some pics on my site.. It is kind of playground while I am taking this intro to HTML class. Here is the link: xxxx I was kind of bored the other night, so I put some new pics up. Please don't give the site to anyone, it would be really embarassing if someone from work or my family saw it!"

Being the dumbass that I am, I am thinking what the hell is going on here...she was blowing me off I had thought. So here I sit at work, I decide to click the link. Doh! It's not her, and the chick is practically naked. LOL

What are the odds...

My friend had a first date the other night with somebody he met on Match.com. He left me a message that simply said "I learned something new last night - curvey means fat."
