Woohoo...got an e-mail saying I was excused from my fourth exam (during finals week). This works out great because now I no longer have a final on Friday, and my last test is on next Tuesday.

Good luck everyone!

1 A in the books, another one likely on the way, a B that probably won't go up or down, and two where I'm firmly on the border b/w A/B!

I have an essay exam in my Comm for Teachers class, a timeline presentation in Adolescent Psych, a take home finals in American Lit, and a good ole fashion multiple choice finals in Foundations for Teachers. The Comm and Foundations tests should be fairly easy while the other two will be much more difficult to get an excellent grade on.

Good luck to all of you who still have to take your Finals.

I'm in for a fun treat myself this semester: Business Organizatios (Corporations + Parnterships), Environmental Law (huge mistake taking this course), Intellectual Property, Legislation, and Professional Responsibilty & Ethics (although I can simply BS the answers on this one ). My biggest complaint is that last final (a 48 take home) won't be finished until Thursday the 22nd. Much later than I'm used to staying, but such is life I suppose. At least I'll have 3 evenings to get Tequila-d up before Christmas.

Good luck to everyone struggling through finals this term, especially the brave law school souls.

Had copyrights today.. 4 hours and it wasn't nearly enough time to answer all the questions. It was a new professor, and I'm thinking he still needs to work the bugs out of the whole exam writing thing. Four more to go.. yay..

I don't know about that... when you don't give enough time, it actually produces a very clean distribution of results (in most cases).

Well, I've done well in all my exams:

Communications for Teachers: 87
Adolescent Psychology: 98
American Literature to 1865: 83
Foundations of American Education: 77
Intro to Mass Media: 93

They actually give you the grades of your finals?

Here, you're lucky to see your final grade for the class before Christmas, and good luck getting a hold of the grade on the final itself.

My Foundations and Adolescent Psych professors graded my finals on the spot. The other three were nice enough to let me know by e-mail. I've never had a problem getting my exam score, but maybe I've been lucky.

Alright, things just got interesting... I'd been planning on anywhere from a 3.2 to a 3.8, because I had a middle-B in one class (Professional Practice, which is basically contract law.)

Just got an e-mail from the professer saying I aced the final (highest grade in the class), and we had a choice before the test to make it worth 1/3 or 1/2 our grade -- I had studied my ass off, so I had done the latter.

So I'd give myself about a 50/50 shot of an A in that class, 50/50 of A in Intro/Structures, and 50/50 of an A in Intro/Tranportation. I already have an A in Intro/Geo., and am hoping/expecting an A in French I.

Could that magical 4.0 be a possibility for this semester? Time will tell...

Racked up the A's in two of the 50/50 classes... so one more left where I think I'll get an A, and one more 50/50!

You should go to OU where they have no such thing as minus or plus...just straight letter grades.

I haven't gotten all of my grades posted, but I think I'm looking at a 3.8 for my five classes. I have 2 A's and a B for sure, but I was pretty solid going into the other two classes in my major.

Actually, we didn't have it here, either. They made a change for incoming classes, but I ignored it since I'm a junior and it was only affecting the freshman class. Well, stupid me, I forget that this French I was a 1000-level class, and used the +/- system.

No finals in two of my classes this semester. I have still three to do next week: Linguistics, History of the English Language, and Literary Criticism. The Linguistics final is going to be the tough as I have to diagram extremely complex sentences. The other two are essay exams that I should well on since they are not any longer than other exams, but I have the full 2 hours to complete. After that hellish week, I have one four week class this summer, so I will be relaxing for nearly three months before I return to class. Plus, I have to take only 12 hours in the fall and I will be student teaching in the spring.

My goofy school has something called a Don Rag, which is where all your professors get together and have a conversation about you in front of you. You are allowed to comment at the end, but are otherwise not addressed.

Mine is today, in a couple of hours.

I don't have a final in Art Appreciation and that class is basically done for the year.

Finals in Global Origins of the Modern World: History of Islamic Civilizations, British Literature Post 1900, Adolescent Literature, and History of the English Language, though.

I also have my capstone course presentation on Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita, both novel and films on Monday. So basically I'll be spending today, tomorrow, and Sunday writing the 15-20 page paper on it. God, I hate Bhaktin as a literary theorist. As luck would have it, my presentation is first.

I hate going first.

But oh well. This was the nastiest semester I've ever had in terms of difficulty and I'm in good shape to come out with another 3.5 or better. My last semester will be a cakewalk in comparison.

Update: It went well. They all had nice things to say, and only one of them had any real criticism. Even that was more useful than jarring.

I got relieved from one final. So that means I have one final a week from Tuesday and three papers due at various points of time before then. Then I'll be done with undergrad!!! ...and off to law school at a place to be determined next fall for three more years.

From the Other Side:

I structure my classes so that I do not have a "real" final exam. Rather, during finals week I offer an optional, cumulative make-up exam that students can take in an effort to replace their lowest exam score from the semester (including exams they missed and got a zero on - I usually have 3 or 4 exams per class). The make-up score gets thrown out entirely if it is lower than all of their previous exams scores. I usually have about a quarter of each of my classes taking the make-up, so my finals week usually has a relatively light workload.

That said, I've got two more regular exams to give (one of which I need to write from scratch) and two more rounds of papers to grade before we get to finals week. It's crunch time for us professors, too (not that I expect too much sympathy)!

Finished the last two finals today. The Linguistics one was a bitch. I hate diagraming sentences especially since it took a fellow student the night before to help me figure what to look for when diagraming.

Isn't it amazing how the entire weight of the world comes off your shoulders when you've taken your last final of the semester? This has been the first time in months that I don't feel on edge to get something done or study for an exam. I'm just completely relaxed.

My History of the English Language (read: Linguistics) turned out not to have a final, so I wound up with a B for the class. I'm not complaining in the least, as linguistics is my weakest area and I was paranoid I was going to get when the class started.

Presentation of capstone paper went pretty well, though I still need to actually finish the last few pages and turn it in, probably tomorrow.

My History of Islamic Civs final today was the easiest final I've ever taken in any course, so I should have a solid A locked up there. Adolescent Lit final tomorrow that should be fairly easy to hopefully nail an A there as well.

I'm still having nightmares about that Brit Lit final and the final paper due for that class, though.

2 down, and 2 to go.

I had Quantitative Methods 252 final last week, basically a business stat class.

Accounting 302 - Was this morning, and a beast of a test.

Tomorrow I have Biology, and I hate that class so much, I don't see why an accountant has any use for botany whatsoever.

And then Friday I have Accounting 305- Cost Accounting, which shouldn't be to bad.

Then its onto summer and finding a job at a local accounting firm.

I have a 5 page paper due by tomorrow afternoon and an 8 am final. I kind of feel some shame, but I'm pretty much phoning it in this semester at the end...I'm in law school, so the motivation isn't there except to pass the tests. I'm trying to save my extra studying burst for the next three years.

2 down, 3 to go!

PS241 - Developmental Psych. - Haven't got my grade yet, but pretty sure I did well

EC333 - Market Organization and Public Policy - Just found out I got the high grade

Still to go:

HI152 - US History since 1865 - This one will be long, but I should do fine.

GE100 - Environmental Science - Just an intro course, should be quite easy

EC391 - International Economics - Easily will be my toughest final, can't say I'm looking forward to. It's also 60% of my grade...eww.
