Damn. That's two wins on the season now.... which is, so far, two more wins than I expected to get all season.

Hey, it's not like I'm trying here or anything. I have no money to do anything with my current squad, and I have nothing in the way of reserves. I'm pretty much resigned to auto-demotion back to Div. V.

Besides, your guys had their way with me in the opener...

Oh, go right ahead. I know full well I don't belong anywhere near 3rd place right now. Based on performances so far, I wouldn't rate myself higher than 6th, at best - and I'll have to be really lucky to finish that high.

i had to take a screen capture of my club in first place of iv.60 because it'd be the only time i'd not be in the relegation zone all season.

The wind will be properly exacted from my sales this weekend when Avengers puts the beat down on me. I can't figure out a way to beat him and continue my cup run . . .

Crap.

If I only could set the tactics to "Go after his midfielders with intent to injure," I might have a chance.

I dunno... I hope I have them back-to-back in the middle of the season... just so I can get it over with and boost my TS by PICing two in a row.

I think I'll start my coach and my backup goalie at midfield or something... just for grins.

We usually have one of the 7th or 8th place guys start good... then at half season we are all like, maybe we should start winning. Well at least that is what I do anyway. I don't win until the second half.

I kind of questioned your decision to press Avengers.. but from the looks of the match report you did kill a few of his chances. It's a shame you couldn't get a couple event/sp goals, unless something freak happens looks like Avengers stay in IV will be limited to just this season.

Yeah, my pressing is pretty good. I had three powerful mf/wingers in plus my stellar defenders. I just couldn't compete on midfield with him. When he knocked out one of my starting IM's, it was pretty much over.

My pressing formation consists of the following:

1 Brilliant D defender
2 Outstanding D defenders
1 Solid D Winger (Powerful)
1 Weak D Winger (Powerful)
1 Passable D IM (Powerful)
1 Inadequate D IM
1 Passable D IM

I knew that I would have needed to squeak by, and I was hoping that I would have gotten another chance or special event.

Now let's see if I have anything left for a cup run . . .

Fairly good weather for football had drawn a crowd of 57284 to Evil Beaver Pitch. Huligans tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Caron - Rosenberg, Marcoux, Zelazny - Oxskog, Coleman, Pescaru, Arellano - Davidsson, Güller, Loyd.

Lamar started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Allen - Mcknight, Klintander, Hansson - Oskarsson, Persson, Winstead, Pascual, Silla - Wickbratt, Holtenstedt.

Huligans clearly preferred attacks in the middle. The referee showed Lamars Miles Winstead the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. The Huligans player was Roy Loyd who had to be helped off the pitch, unable to finish the game, but Roland Kuin came in to finish the match. A well placed corner kick from Alf V. Klintander was followed by Ulf Holtenstedt´s hard but accurate header. The nice combination meant goal for Lamar. The result now 0-1. In the 25:th minute Lamar put themselves up 0 - 2 after an attack from the right, caused by a defensive blunder. Scorer was Ulf Holtenstedt. The referee showed Lamars Ulf Holtenstedt the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Due to a severely mistimed tackle,Alojzy Zelazny spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Köbi Güller had a good opportunity to reduce in the 40:th minute but wasn´t cool enough. The ball went miles over the bar. The home side attempted to get through in the middle and had a good chance of pulling one back as Håkan Oxskog tried lifting the ball over goalie Gregg Allen. Typically, the ball went just over the bar. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 2. The fortyfive minutes were dominated by Huligans, with an impressive 55 percent possession of the ball.

Lamar´s Fredrik Oskarsson made it through the home teams defence in the 54:th minute, and had only to place the ball in an unguarded goal when the home side´s defender sprang up from the left, clearing the ball on the line. The referee showed Lamars Palmer Mcknight the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. Diego Pascual of Lamar received a yellow card in the 58:th minute for unsportsmanlike behaviour. Huligans, bringing the final ball possession rate to 59 percent, dominated the battle.

Most important Huligans player was Håkan Oxskog. Garfield Arellano was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Lamar player was without a doubt Gregg Allen. However, Diego Pascual made a disastrous appearance. The match ends 0 - 2.

Congrats on the bumps, Bluey.

I don't think that pressing would have helped you out. For pressing to be effective in the 3-4-3, you really need to have a couple of Powerful players. Also you dominated the midfield. When you do that, you shouldn't press.

I got a 19 year old to brilliant scoring today.

What do they call it when you rape someone that's so pathetic you wouldn't have sex with them if they gave it up to you willingly? Because that's the sort of victim I was on Sunday...

Becky's grandfather died about 1AM Eastern on the 2nd of Aug. We were very close to this one... All we could afford was to send her back, so I'll be here with the 3 kids and she leave Sat morning for a week.

I'll be active again soon.

Hey Raven, I've got a question for you, striker trainer to striker trainer.

I have a 19 year old solid scorer with excellent passing. He was once one of my best trainnees, but has been surpassed, and is now my 5th best. I have always suspected that some players train a little bit quicker, and some a little bit slower. It is pretty clear to me that he trains a little bit slower. He has been at solid for 8 weeks now. My 18s and 17s usually train in around 6. He has not missed training or been hurt, I went back and double checked. I bought him at inad, and he went to passable after 1 week, but it took him around 8 weeks to get to solid (this was last season).

Should I go ahead and sell him at Excellent scoring Excellent passing and get a 17 solid that may have a shot at formidable by the end of the season? Or should I just stick with him?

Personally, I'd keep him for one more season. It's kind of funny, there really isn't much of a market for 19 y/o scorers. Their too old the people will want to pick them up to train and too inexperienced to be used by as a day to day trainer.

My experience with strikers is that you have a standard in how many weeks it takes for a player to be trained.

17 - 6 weeks
18 - 7 weeks
19 - 8 weeks
20 - 9 weeks

And so on and so forth . . .

If your trainee has been training at 19 for 8 weeks and hasn't popped, he'll probably go next week. Keep him one more season. This should get him to Outstanding/Excellent at 20 years old. There is a great market for that kind of player.
