I'll admit, I don't like the removal of post counts from posts. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it just looks bizzare and is giving me considerable cognitive dissonance.

Mods being the only ones allowed to delete threads I'm perfectly fine with.

I approve of these changes. Post counts as a topic of conversation are annoying as hell. I can't believe anyone really gives a crap.

Few things

Are there any mobile friendly skins we could possibly look to add? Maybe I'm an exception but I find myself mobile browsing a ton these days.

The recent deletions/look at my post count theads. Were stupid. I love looking through some of the stuff I wrote 5 years ago and would hate to lose it to a stupid game. fofc is the closest thing I have to a journal

Re point 2. Looking through a lot of the old stuff I wrote made me realize I've been an ass much too much so if I offended you at some point I'd like to apologize. .

Well you could always make it so people can't delete started threads after *** minutes that would stop thread deleting asshatery.

Abusing signatures would be doing something over and over, not once. IMO. But I didn't write the definition in the dictionary...

Main Entry:
abuse
Pronunciation:
\ə-ˈbyüs\
Function:
noun
Etymology:
Middle English, from Middle French abus, from Latin abusus, from abuti to consume, from ab- + uti to use
Date:
15th century
improper or excessive use or treatment : misuse

So if someone hit their spouse one time, its not abuse. Thanks, I didn't know that.

I would think that abuse depends on why they hit their spouse. Doesn't it?

No, it really doesn't. One hit, regardless of the reason, is abuse.

Agree on the deleted threads. It's almost a "tradition" now that it happens when someone starts one of those threads. I'd never really thought about it, but when I did, I couldn't think of a compelling reason to let users delete threads. It can be a royal pain to find and restore them if they pick the right ones. (I'm pretty sure that some are in effect lost forever just because we're not likely to find them.) It's quite uncommon for someone to double-post a thread, and even more uncommon for someone to regret a thread shortly after it's posted and want to delete it. In either case, they can PM me or any mod and we'll just take care of it.

FYI, the thing EagleFan was referring to actually happened before the widespread post count hit -- this is fairly obvious from reading his "6000" thread. His post count going down to 0 at that time suggests mod involvement.

I disagree with your interpretation of the definition. Improper or excessive means it can be one or the other. I don't see why it would have to be repetitive.

Um, right. So if a husband is verbally abusing his wife day in a day out and never lays a hand on her, the moment she hits him she has physically abused him... right...

Thinking about it more... I'm ok with the changes. The information and exchanges here are important to me, so I like that only mods can delete that stuff now. And we can still see our post counts if we want, so nothing much has changed there.

speaking of changes, since this breaking news was released in what I assume to be the most traveled subforum, does it really make sense to call this place "off topic"? Perhaps "General Discussion" or something would make more sense?

Thank you, so it wasn't me going crazy. I can't see that as being a rebuild due to forum usage with his count dropping to 0 and no-one else having a drastic cut at that point. This seemed to be a few hours before the other changes came about.

i disagree (i know you are stunned i am disagreeing with you). i was on the board most of the afternoon yesterday as I was home from work, sick, and i noticed my own post count, as well as alot of other people's varying wildly throughout the day. I think at one point i was down to HS Mascot.

EagleFan is right but honestly - what fun is being a mod if you can't harmlessly fuck with a few people once in a while?
