This has to be one of the worst starting running back matchups ever.

I can't stand Barlow. This guy talked so much about how he wanted to be the man when Garrison Hearst was here and since he signed that contract he hasn't done jack shit. I hope they start to play Gore more as the year goes on.

Would anyone object to moving all Arizona games to Mexico City?

It's kinda nice to see a crowd at a Cardinals home game.

Damn. What a terrible display. Reggie Bush, we need you. Well...offensive lineman are needed, too.....

They should really take advantage of the altitude and let Rackers try to kick a FG from some absurd distance to set an unbreakable record. I'm thinking 70 yards even would do.

they should have at least let Rackers kick the ball there.

1. You never know if the points will be a factor.

2. A successful FG would have tied the single-game record (7).

I took a day off work (Monday afternoon here) to watch this. I had my throwback 49ers fake leather football helmet, my homemade mexican poncho over my Steve Young jersey and a 49ers mini football to throw at the bean bag on the floor.

I am soooooo disappointed. They need to take Barlow out the back of the stadium and shoot him, point blank. Bust a cap in him.

Why are they persisting with Bush and Hetherington at Fullback and leaving probably the best blocker on the team (Beasley) on the bench? If they are not going to use Fred at FB, at least put him at left tackle because it would not be humanly possible to turn in a worse performance than #67 Anthony "I am looking at a new career as a Matador" Clements.

They have Rasheed Marshall, a QB, and Otis Amey, a rookie free agent who changes his name in week 1 as the #3 and #4 receivers. Call Jerry. Put him on a plane. Sh.t, call me, I could use the airmiles.

Where would Beasley Reece rank on your list of announcers. It seem like everytime he talked he never made sense or related to the game in question.

I dont think he calls enough games that I see to make a strong impression on me.

The Cardinals (1-3) agreed to give up a home game to make history, and the NFC West rivals played in front of 68,398 more fans than they drew for last season's meeting at Sun Devil Stadium. The crowd (103,467) topped the previous NFL record for a regular-season game, when 102,368 fans saw the Los Angeles Rams play the 49ers at the L.A. Coliseum on Nov. 10, 1957.
...
Mexico's biggest city was a natural choice for this trailblazing game. The NFL is widely popular south of the border, with nearly one in five Mexicans claiming an interest in the league. The NFL opened an office in Mexico in 1998, with an eight-person staff overseeing its growing profile.
...
The league's popularity was evident to visitors arriving at Azteca, where the number of fans wearing replica jerseys -- more Dallas Cowboys than Niners or Cardinals -- nearly outnumbered the hundreds of police and security officials ringing the stadium.
...
And when the game got a bit dull early in the second quarter, they did "La Ola" -- the wave. When McCown made a spinning move to dodge a tackler in the fourth quarter, the fans shouted "Ole!"

EDIT: formatting

My beloved Cards!...yeah? I think for Luke McCown of all people to throw for nearly 400 yards tells you all need to know about the Niners (supposed) defense. God help them when Indy comes to town this week. I turned off the game after they went down 14-0 early, that was more than even I could take of watching my favorite team. Checked back in later and nearly fell over when they were ahead 21-14 and watched for a bit. Rackers may become my favorite kicker ever.

This game was probably the end of the Tim Rattay "era" in SF. To struggle so much against a defense that was probably even more beat up then your own, and wasn't a very good one to begin with is a sign of the end I think. Now I just hope if McCown wins another game this week, Green won't bench him again and destroy his confidence.

Scariest part of Mexico City's stadium: The moat seperating part of the stands from the field, and the barbed wire around it.

Both Grammaticas were extremely annoying. Janikowski would eat both of them.

Got a chuckle out of this...

..."[Tagliabue] also acknowledged that soccer is the undisputed king of Mexican sports, as evidenced Sunday night when the loudest cheer came when the scoreboard flashed Mexico's under-17 national team's 3-0 victory over Brazil to capture the world championship in Lima, Peru.

Tagliabue said the roar from the crowd had to leave U.S. television viewers scratching their heads and wondering if the Mexicans in the stands understood what was happening on the field because "it came at a time when the Arizona quarterback threw one of the least artistic passes in the history of the National Football League.""

It's not a good time to be a '9ers fan...

They should've brought Jerry back to San Fran this year, he probably would've been the 2nd receiver.

I hope that does not mean you hope they start Alex Smith now. Yes he looked real nice when the Cardinals played their prevent defense. When the Cardinals blitzed him the last two plays or so, he looked lost again. Unless Rattay is injured or absolutely horrendous, Smith should sits the bench.
