Sheesh, I didn't even know Jim Varney was dead... and here I was wondering why there hadn't been another 'Ernest' for such a long time...

The real reason I love the movie is because it featured the song Baby Now I by Dan Reed Network, which was one of my favorite bands at the time.

I don't disagree, I'm just trying to understand what that has to do with The Cutting Edge.

Hey, look... if you like the movie because Moira Kelly is in it (one of the most unappreciated hot 'girl next door'-type chicks in hollywood, IMO), I respect that... but the central plot device (male hockey player becomes a figure skater) is gay. Male figure skaters are gay. Men who watch male figure skating are either gay or so whipped by their wives they might as well be gay.

That is all.

My God! I guess I'm gay! I had no idea. But thank you for pointing that out. Since my wife is out of town, I can pop the DVD in the player, call up all my closet boyfriends, and have a gay ole' time.

BTW, Moira Kelly was hot in that movie, and I think I already explained the real reason I liked the movie. But now that you've pointed out the real reason, I want to thank you. Now if you'll excuse me, I must sashay home.

'Surf Nazis must die' is a personal favourite, but its a little obscure, it was so bad it was funny.

Slightly more well known 'More Bad News' by the Comic Strip Team (Britsh comedians who made many great films including 'The Bulshitters') - i am trying to find an affordable copy of the music by Bad News (its kind of like Spinal Tap, except this group actually played Donnington Rock Festival and got bottled off stage)

for an actual mainstream film - Tremors is a true classic.

TroyF, did you just find out you're gay too? It's a shock, ain't it?

Wanna come over and watch movies with me?

Ksyrup,

Yep, that's exactly what I found out. I've actually paid to watch Scott Hamilton skate. As I'm not married, I guess I'm gay. I'm not exactly sure why I keep asking women out and why I think Elizabeth Hurley and Moira Kelly are hot. (maybe their wardrobe?)

Oh well, I guess I'll recover somehow.

Careful now, I come over and watch The Cutting Edge with you, the rumors will start and then Cam's wife may not want to see you anymore.

TroyF

(sorry Cam, I know that was a direct attack on your wife and I apologize in full. I'm going to go rent The Male Figure Skating Championships now and get back into touch with my feelings so I can become a more caring member of this board.)

What about Night of the Lepus? TBS would show that damn movie every other day (Night of the Lepus at 3:05, Sanford and Son at 7:05) and I'd watch it every time.

Oh man, I LOVE movies about giant, mutant, killer rabbits.

Hmm, I wonder whatever happened to Rhonda Shear. She was the greatest movie hostess ever...

Come on guys! Tammy and the T-Rex, thouroughly horrible movie, but at least you get Denise Richards doing a semi strip tease at the end. One of those movies you happen to catch, calculate the time until it ends, then watch the last 5 minutes.

OK, a couple of guilty pleasures:

1. The Replacements.

This is a pretty formula sports comedy, with every cliche in the book, but I like it.

2. Big Trouble In Little China.

Perhaps one of the dumbest films of all time, but one that I watch once in a while, and yes, I did buy the DVD recently.

Above the Rim: With Tupac and Marlon Wayans. You got to love the psycho guy who plays basketball in the park with no ball. Did it bother anyone eles when Shep (Leon) made the basket and he never went to get the imaginary ball, it just came right back to him and he kept on shooting? I real wacko would of picked up that invisible ball before shooting it again. And how does some one die form dunking a basketball, or should I ask how can anyone believe it.

Above the Law: How stupid is this movie, how do you mix a Vietnam vet, Coulmbian drug lords, and politics and screw up? Also you have a great line from this movie, by the great thesbian Steven Segal: "You guys think you're above the law…but you ain't above ours." Apperently his law is breaking the US Constitution and killing people, with out due process.

I can't believe these movies even got made, maybe the fact they did causes me to enjoy them. But if these movies are on I can not but watch them, it brings a smile to my face. I wish they could cross these two movies and make Above Stupidity.

On a side note, just because Segal was mentioned, anybody else watch the first 5 minutes of Broken Arrow, see Segal's character die, then turn it off knowing full well that nothing else in the movie could top that one moment.

It's just all downhill from there.

Seagal ROOOLZ.

I'll watch (or should I say re-watch) any Seagal movie anytime. On Deadly Ground might be my favorite...Michael Cain playing the villain WAY over the top, eskimo mysticism, R. Lee Ermy, and Seagal's ten minute guilt trip ending-spiel, what's not to love?

That was "Executive Decision" with Kurt Russell, aka Die Hard on a plane. "Broken Arrow" was the John Woo flick with Howie Long, Travolta, and Christian Slater.

Executive Decision isn't that bad.

Big Trouble in Little China, though horribly panned and not the epitome of fine film making is a cult classic. A great film. The commentary tracks on the DVD leave a little to be desired unless you are interested in what Russell's and Carpenter's kids are up to.

Bad Taste : This film was our cult movie when I was in school. So LMAO ! Then it was a shock to us when Peter Jackson (who directed Bad Taste) was going to direct "The Lord of the Rings"... - Link with image

In Peter Jackson's BAD TASTE, an army of alien invaders has landed in coastal New Zealand with the intent of turning its human inhabitants into intergalactic fast food. Their nefarious mission is sabotaged, however, when a four-man commando team is sent in by the government to fend off the invaders. Bloody mayhem ensues....Prepare for scenes featuring exploding sheep, vomit eating, and cannibalism. With its unique blend of hardcore violence and outrageous black humor, BAD TASTE is a genre-busting treat for dauntless moviegoers.

My best scene is the "accidental" blasting of a sheep with a rocket launcher.... That's real bad !

My bad, had snow on the brain. I enjoyed Broken Arrow, while like I said, Executive Decision didn't make it 5 minutes past 'the death'. Probably a good movie, but no way it could improve upon that
