That sound you hear is every Ottawa fan locking themselves in their bathroom and cutting themselves.

At this point, I just don't think Muckler cares any more. He's officially become the cranky old man who's going to do it his way, dammit, and you'll like it.

TSN showing Bertuzzi to the Wings "pending conference call with the league".
What is that?

It sounds like it has something to do with Beruzzi's physical condition. Perhaps a medical? Medical clearance? Or even the conditional aspect of the trade, which could be complicated and varied depending on how much Bertuzzi plays, if he re-signs with the Wings, how far they go in the playoffs, etc, etc.

Initial reports may be two picks for Bertuzzi, and neither may be firsts.

very very unlikely, but it does free them up to buy him out this summer. they really had no one else close in the system.

btw, May has zero fighting majors this year.

Anaheim adding May seems odd. They already lead the league in fighting majors by a wide margain, and May, as DD said, hasn't fought yet this year. Other then some veteran leadership I don't know what this deal really does for them.

Does Anaheim need to match what the Wings, Preds, and Sharks have done? Or at least get more than May?

Anaheim made their move this off-season with Pronger, and I am not sure that a deadline deal would be nessecary because Pronger in theory can offset Bertuzzi, Forsberg and Guerin.

The buzz will certainly be back in Hockeytown now... Holland has been under a lot of criticism (unjustly so in my opinion) for not being agressive enough during recent trade deadlines and free agency. This deal is the kind of deal that will spark interest... Big time.

This is a boom or bust type trade. The Wings haven't had much luck in picking up injured players (see, eg., Krupp, Samuelsson) and turning them around.

I hope the trade goes through. It will be interesting if nothing else. . .

not in toughness, because they have gobs of that. but they've had a hell of a time scoring lately.

I've never been sold on Zubrus, but the Sabres needed to make a move with all of their injuries.

Now this is a trade deadline.

on Bertuzzi - Avs and Wings play just one more time this year, and that's this Sunday in Detroit. Doesn't sound like Bertuzzi will even be ready by then anyway.

as much as I like to joke about Detroit, I think Bert is a nice addition for them

Yes, Red Wings message board fans are always all over Holland and most of the criticism is outrageous. I think he better then most GMs has handled the Salary Cap masterfully and he has always shown he is up for a deadline deal which makes me believe last year there could've been something but why mortgage the future? I think this deal will be fine if we only dealt picks (especially if we got out of it without giving up the first, but knowing how the Wings draft, any pick has a huge boom factor) because we're not losing anything off the current roster.

The Atlanta Thrashers have re-claimed forward Jason Krog on waivers from the New York Rangers and have assigned him to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League, according to Executive Vice President and General Manager Don Waddell. It was also announced that Thrashers forward Niko Kapanen has been claimed on waivers by the Phoenix Coyotes and forward Denis Hamel has been claimed on waivers by the Philadelphia Flyers.

I almost wished out loud for sequence earlier today when I saw the list of players placed on waivers (well, the Krog & Kapanen part of it) but figured it was too much to hope for.

Stupid Leaf trade...Leafs could have had him for nothing at the begining of the season when he was at home picking his nose...now they give up a 2nd rounder and a decent young D-man for him.Bah...Would rather have seen Roberts come to the Leafs.

Bell is not a decent young D-man... and Roberts wasn't worth a 1st round draft pick. But oh well, no one is happy with the Leafs unless they bring the 1983 all-stars back to play with them.

Mathias was a 2nd round pick last year who projects more as a third line grinder then a playmaking forward so honestly this deal looks great for the Wings.

Avs reaquire Scott Parker for a pick of some sort. I like the addition, although I have to admit I had no clue he was still in the league

I guess the Devils have decided to take it easy. I did just receive a call from Lou Lamoriello's office, and they're on the verge of offering me a free agent contract, but that's only because I'm the only person they can fit under their salary cap.
