Social scientists have longed argued that any sufficiently lengthy internet fight will contain at least some vaguely interesting content.

Then all this happened, and they admitted they were wrong.

One of the few in the Nanny/Butler/Maid category in which the whole show was based around. Again, very happy to have someone who was in my top 3 to start the draft. And really considering my mom is a witch, we really don't need a maid or a butler since she can just wiggle her nose and have the whole house clean and dinner served.

The possibility of funny business between the young heart throb nanny and the MILF mom, is sure to make for some good comedy as well.

Both this and Toni were ones that completely slipped my mind, but are solid picks.

I came real close to taking Chachi from Happy Days as a friend to prevent this pick from happening. Nice job getting him so late.

He's someone I really wanted to make it back to me. I've been considering him since round 2. Karl already had the spot filled, so I knew I could safely take Springfield and still gets Charles.

Ok, I've regrouped, and am ready to make the pick.

7.3 Daphne Moon, Frasier - Housekeeper/Butler/Nanny

She filled all of the above mentioned roles during her time on the show. And a stone cold hotty to boot.

Housekeeper/Nanny has proven a far deeper category than I initially realized.

Obviously we can talk more about this after with specific names, but it's amazing how weak the sister/daughter category is overall. Even the top picks would be weak in other categories.

I've got some ideas for a few strong (in my mind) picks.

Gimme a sec to make sure that I'm not picking a mom that's already been picked.

Like I said earlier - I really felt like Kelly Bundy and Marsha Brady were the clear 1/2 with a pretty steep drop to #3.

I guess they're likely the best of the bunch, but I'm not sure they are much better over the rest. I think even they are weak compared to other categories. Even brother for example, Alex Keaton blows both of them out of the water. Of course in voting it's relative to the spot. My commentary is more about sitcoms in general which seem to have weaker daughter/sister roles.

7.6 Angela Bower (Who's the Boss?) - Mom

I picked Angela because she was the working mom who had Tony Danza working for her. Even though Maple Leafs chose Tony Micelli waaaaaay back in Round 3, I think that she provides the symmetry of successful (or intelligent) family members on my team.

I don't really disagree with anything you're saying. I think those two are a little more clearly at the top of their category, but if you're talking "top sitcom children" those two might not even crack the top 20.

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe I should've made my pick now for sister due to the discussion. *shrug*

Not sure it will effect that. Unless I know for sure I can get my picks for the other two spots I need to fill, I'll likely wait on sister until my last pick as well. Or someone comes to mind that isn't on my list.

I think along with Mayberry, it's the most famous city location for a show. Plus, I think what makes the show so great is all of the extra characters that make up Springfield. Considering my family is pretty zaney, it's a good match.

Dang, great back to back picks by Danny, possibily putting him in the lead. Springfield was my #1 location, but Charles wasn't even on my radar. Great pick in what I thought was a depleted category.

Crizzzzap, Daphne Moon as well? Housekeeper might be THE deepest category. I also love Latka as a wildcard pick. He's about the wildest card. I only wish someone could have picked Balki AND Latka on the same team - now THAT'S a show I wanna watch.

And Danny, it's not Bewitched I didn't watch, it's Andy Griffith - get my pop culture deficencies straight! (For the record I loved Bewitched, but after a full week of administering tests to kids my brain was fried)

I think we should put the TV show beside the name for voting. Some names are readily apparent, while others are not. At the very least, there needs to be some sort of consistency in how we name them. For example, Charles from Charles in Charge is more recognizable than if you said you selected Charles (no last name given). Esther Rolle might be a head-scratcher, but once you say Esther Rolle from Good Times it clicks. I don't think we should make the voters research our picks.

7.11 Fred "Rerun" Stubbs - What's Happening Now!! - Best Friend of Lead - Theo and Rerun - what a pair? We know that Rerun matches up well with a relatively mild-mannered lead, he'd go great with Theo. And can you imagine Re-Run and Fred bouncing off of each other?!

7.10 Richard "Richie" Cunningham, Happy Days - Brother/Son

The prototype for a sitcom brother/son, Richie was a good kid that got into tough spots that his friends and family bailed him out of in hilarious ways. He pestered his sister, drove his parents crazy sometimes, brought together a great cast of friends, and even eventually went off to college.

Hey not a problem, that's who I wanted there anyway, as you see from my post. I saw you put up wade's pick, hit reply, and by the time I was done with my writeup you had posted the pick already. No harm, I'm gonna make my next pick though. You can toast that list now.
