I think Katerina Witt is a spectacular choice. Just a stunningly beautiful woman, her playboy spread was one that I looked forward to more than any other ever when I heard about it.

Shania was a heck of a pick, and Witt was solid too. Still have another in mind for singer.

And...Seka? Really?? You'd think you might have...oh right, I guess I can't name them yet. But at least pick an American here.

You have to consider her in her prime.
She was a huge star and sex symbol in her day.

A lot of these picks are not looking so hot anymore.

Because that would basically make her a duplicate of the Madonna pick.

This has been a strange draft.

Put it this way: somebody picked a cartoon rabbit, and that isn't even the discussion for top ten oddest picks.

depends on your interpretaton of the category I guess? My interpretation is "old school hotties" not "old women"

Just like Madonna has extra appeal to me no matter what she does now because of when I grew up, someone who was in movies in the 50s and 60s would have extra appeal to someone in my parents generation... at least that is what I envisioned that category intending.

I interpret that to be completely different, as in older men now (and how one defines 'old'). I think you can pick anyone that guys over 30 would like, including boomers (like Farrah), as oppose to what the kids like (Scarlett). Going back to the 40s or 50s would be really old men, which means nothing to nearly everyone here - including me, dammit. Like in all drafts, if you want to win, you go with what will get the votes here.

From reading other threads I was under the impression most FOFCers considered her hot and I expected her to be the 3rd athlete taken.

She's definitely a bigger sex symbol right now than many of the other athletes taken, IMO. A lot of that is marketing and media creation, sure, but such is life.

I had her at #2 behind Kournikova. I think Sharapova is hotter, but not as big a sex symbol as Danica.

But YMMV.

Paris Hilton is much the same. No doubt she is a "sex symbol" but it is largely fabricated and most men I know do not find her appealing.

Matt Damon - someone older (in his late 30's) but I think he appeals to "Younger Women" in their mid to late 20's. He was named People's 2007 Sexiest Man of the Year.

*shurg*

1. Celebrity Singer, 3.4, Beyonce
2. Celebrity Actor, 8.6, Salma Hayek
3. Celebrity No-Talent, 1.4, Venus de Milo
4. Celebrity Athlete, 2.6, Allison Stokke
5. Appeals to Younger Men, 7.4, Elisha Cuthbert
6. Appeals to Younger Women, 9.4, Matt Damon
7. Appeals to Older Men, 4.6, Raquel Welch
8. Appeals to Older Women
9. Fictional (Literary) - 6.6, Hester Prynne
10. Fictional (Theatrical), 5.4, Linda Barrett Fast Times at Ridgemont High

OK. I'm headed to bed. Unless the house blows up overnight or I get hit by a bus on the walk to work, I should be ready to pick by 9am (Eastern) tomorrow if somehow it gets back around to me.

Actually, the shocker of the draft for me has been that Lathum didn't pick Cher, to fit in with his all-male theme.
