+1

not a fan of picks that are...violating the spirit of the draft, if not the letter of the draft

Blatant pandering to the Pumpy vote.

4.4 Mork from Ork, Robin Williams, Mork and Mindy: Wildcard

Sorry for the delay, I'm at work and someone came in for help.

Just the right fit for the wildcard role. Mork was an alien sent to study humanity. Robin Williams weekly delving into the psychology of how we humans interact on a daily basis was constant laughs.

4.5- Eddie Haskell- Bad Guy

He was THE original sitcom bad boy. Snarky, conniving, and an all around trouble maker.

I realize I am going back aways with this pick, but he was the first person I thought of when I saw this catergory.

Can you pick him? He was spun off from Happy Days, a Wisconsin show.

Mork and Mindy took place in Boulder Colorado. The character was created due to the one time appearance of Mork in happy days, the time frames were changed and the location is different. Should be ok I think

By the way, I assume that if somebody makes an illegal pick and doesn't realize it we keep going and treat it like a Vikings pick?

Yep. I'd raise a red flag on this much more than Lucy who actually was a mom on the show. Seinfeld was a great show though.

Cliff was the best pick that I've read so far.

Then picks like Samantha Stevens are bunk as well, because neither Tabitha nor Adam were significant presences on that show. Both Sam and Lucy were actively wives (certainly an important part of a family unit) on camera but rarely did much mothering.

I think folks are nitpicking here, but YMMV. I would also recommend that anyone skeptical about the Lucy pick as a mom should go read Lucille Ball's wiki page. Her giving birth on the show and becoming a mother was a landmark event in TV history.

Quick question - How are we determining brother?

I would think it could be interchangeable Son/Brother, but then there are questions about shows with only one kid, do those kids count.

This is very much a "leave it to the voters" situation imo.

So if someone is a main character, they're stillable to be brother?

Well it won't matter, I'm set on my pick. I'll let the voters do what they wish with it.

I beg to differ here, Tabitha was a huge part of bewitched. Her popularity as a character in the previous show was what got the ball rolling for the failed spinoff with her as an adult. Samantha Stevens is a very solid pick as a mother figure IMO.

The rap on Lucille ball probably stems more from the fact that at the height of her popularity she wasn't playing the "motherly" role she was just doing slapstick against the backdrop of her hubbies radio show. I think Lucy is a fine pick though.

A lot of this is going to come down to the voters and their PoV. I do hope that when voting is done that it is done publicly with a reasoning for how/why votes were given. The players deserve to see why or why not their picks got support.

Well said.

Now that I'm caught up, I think Ed Norton was the best value pick in the draft.

Another pick for Team DeTox, and we go back to the 80's to find a young man who was a great brother, just trying to make it in this crazy world of ours:

Something to remember with all the bickering (which is often the best part of the draft): the voters largely don't read this thread. They see the rules, they see the picks, and they see any explanations that are posted in the voting thread. The "die hard" draft watchers are a small portion of the final tally.

Not a fan of the Kevin Arnold pick due to the earlier disagreements about hour long/half hour long/ sitcom/non sitcom, but thats just my take.

Except that Dr. Sak already said that it was not limited to half hour sitcoms. We've already established that it is not a violation of the rules, and people trying to convince voters otherwise are being dishonest.
