Another B.S. penalty... Though the neck does make it sensitive.
I'd say warn him and call in next time though...

This is how little people care about college football here in the bay area: Stanford, whose campus is a 15 minute drive from house, doesn't have their opener (a conference road game) televised, but instead I have Vanderbilt vs. Western Carolina.

Grrrr.

Do they have blackout rules in college ball?
That's sad... but understandable.

And this is way I hate going into the opponents side twice early and coming away with 6 points. One TD and you are suddenly down. 'Bama just has to play their game and they'll be fine. It's still 79 to 3 for total yards.

Yeah, I was at the game it could easily of been 93-0 if they had not let up in the last quarter. We will see how they fare at Minnesota next week.

Give 'Bama an average QB and I think it could be roughly 17-7, but McElroy is 2-8. VT can basically stack the line and dare them to throw. This is the issue when you have a new QB. You have little clue as to what you are going to get with the new guy and certainly in their first game. It's why I have little clue as to how 'Bama is going to do this year. If you can't pull off 55% passing depending on if it's a running QB, or not, then you really aren't helping your team. 'Bama has a good enough running game that's absent currently and a stud WR. It shouldn't be too hard to pull off 55%. Really hoping it's just early jitters.

I'll add that this year's version of the OL is leaving a lot to be desired as well, which isn't helping. This doesn't look like the 3rd best team in the SEC and that was my at best hope for them this year.

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford suffered a right AC joint sprain in his throwing shoulder and will not return to No. 3 Oklahoma's game against No. 20 BYU.

Bradford was on sideline with his right arm in sling and ice taped to his shoulder as the second half began Saturday night.

Bradford was hit by Brigham Young linebacker Coleby Clawson in the closing seconds of the first half. Bradford got rid of the pass in time to avoid a sack, then he and Clawson landed flush on his right arm. It was a clean hit.

Bradford writhed in pain, putting his left hand on the shoulder. Trainers rushed to him and brought him to the sideline where he was examined on a table, then taken into the locker room.

The No. 3 Sooners kicked a field goal on the next play to take a 10-7 lead at halftime over the Cougars.

Bradford was 10-of-14 for 96 yards and a touchdown. He broke the school passing record held by Jason White with an 18-yard completion to Brandon Caleb.

As much as he hasn't been playing well... It's also the fact that he's inexperienced against zones. Tech keeps dropping into zone, bracketing Julio. That forces him to make quick accurate reads, something you cannot expect a young QB to do, especially on a big stage like this. His Oline isn't helping much either.
I see it more of a very quick swarm defense that managed to shut down their big time player, and the talent level everywhere else still needs to find themselves.

So as much as it's McElroy, it's a good defense that's making it that much more problematic.

Disappointing for VT to only come away with 3 after the INT.

They have to throw on 1st down in the red zone.

Yeah, they are too predictable in the Red-Zone.
Which is surprising considering how they lost their big time TB this summer...

But then again, if you trust your STeams that much, then why risk anything when you know you have a guaranteed 3.

And he's now 3-13 with an INT. I'm not exactly sure when you pull the plug, but damn it has to be tempting. Even if it's just "for the greater good" just to have him sit for a bit and clear his head. Gonna be a long halftime for him.

Well, run the ball, and just don't rely on him too much.
'Bama's throwing too much. I know BeamerBall's foreboding, but take the 3&out to wear down the defense. They have yet to establish the run... (though they've been getting better)

See. They get it to Jones, and things work out.
Though the coverage on him has been a bit lax...

That's what they need to do though.
He's ur playmaker, get him the ball.

*edit* And now Tech's a bit winded...
This is their opportunity, let's see if they capitalize.

*edit 2* And they do. Time for Tech's offense to return the favor. And Bud'll have some adjustments to make now.

It's not a huge deal, I don't think. I mean, people would sometimes do that to pad their post count. However, it seems pretty relevant and all so you're probably in no danger

And no offense to VT fans, but when a QB is putting up the numbers he was, you kind of have to cheer for him when he goes 3 for 4 and helps lead the team to a TD for once when they were getting snake bitten.

A great block by the WR!!! Nicely done!

And none taken. I'd rather have a great game and lose at the last minute than blow someone out. I love football because of the competition. Winnings nice, but only if it goes down to the wire IMO.

To be fair, Gabbert was in the same situation with the same experience against illinois today and excelled. At some point you have to say its the QB too

Lucky break there - they should have run a fade on that original first and goal.

This game is shaping up to be very interesting. One good drive by each team.

Watching via Gamecast, but yeah, I bet Saban is gonna have an earful for him. Two back-to-back personal fouls within your own goal line. WTF?

VT lucky to come away with the lead at the half. Bama shouldn't have even gotten close on that last drive.
