Makes sense, but he did pick Kelly Bundy, which would supposedly preclude the pick for Wisconsin.

I'll review the thread but I thought this was discussed already and that wasn't a factor for locations, but either way, not a big issue.

I'm pretty sure Wisconsin was just mentioned as a childhood home of the mom, not a central focus of Married with Children, so I think it can pass.

How can you possibly justify combining Chicago into Wisconsin?

Sorry, that's Wisconsin that you picked - so everything in the state of Wisconsin.

Married with Children was technically in a Chicago suburb. Illinois, not Wisconsin =)

Have you looked at a map? Its a regional thing. I took Wisconsin, no problem there, but when you look at how many sitcoms took place in the chicago/milwauki area its humungous. I'd say its pretty easily justified myself.

Limiting myself by Wisconsin only benefits me anyway, so why the fuss?

I hope we aren't going to get that picky on locations because on Episode 62, for 2 minutes, Bill and Bob were watching a Green Bay Packer game so, therefore you can not take Wisconsin.

MASH would eliminate San Fran, Ottumwa, Fort Wayne, Maine, Crab Apple Cove, Boston, Korea, Japan, Hawaii....

I'd like to take the Mid-Atlantic states please, k thx.

Yes and no. It helps you have other picks, but including Chicago would increase the value of this individual pick.

I think that was more about being confused than anything else. RendeR claimed MwC so people assumed it took place there.

3.12 : Ed Norton (Best Friend), Honeymooners : A Best Friend has to be the subject of the leads jokes and barbs, in on his schemes and steal the occassional scene. That was Ed Norton.

4.1 : Benson (Butler/Maid), Soap : Change from the always helpful maid to the sarcastic side. Plus, he later become a politician. Edna just opened a freakin restaurant and Alice just massaged Sam's meat.

4.2 - Geoffrey (Fresh Prince of Bel Air)- Butler - This category is going to be dominated by characters from before the 90's, if not far before. Geoffrey is a modern, hip in his own way, butler. A good Butler not only keeps an immaculate house, but gets in a good barb here and there on the family without them even knowing it.

Great value, IMO, at 3.11. The Mike Brady pick was OK, but I thought Marsha should be the first Brady off the board. Especially when the voter demographic skews so heavily toward men.

Wow, there's a ton more butlers out there than I thought - and my #3 pick for that category is still out there!

Samantha Stevens is the second pick I don't know - what show is she on? Also, I didn't immediately get Arnold, but that's only because I'm not used to hearing his last name. Nice pet pick, but my #1... by a lot... is still on the board.

EDIT: Frig, Bewitched! Got it. It didn't click for a while there.

4.3 Al Borland-Home Improvement - Best Friend of the Lead Character

Al and Tim had their arguments, but whenever Tim needed anything, Al was there for him, and vice versa. Al defines the perfect "friend of the lead" in that he's always there, with either help and love or a fitting zinger to put the lead in his place. Plus, you can't think of the show and not think of him.

I was happily surprised to see her at 3.11. The clear #1 seed at sister imo, but if not #1 at least right up there with Kelly Bundy.

That's like picking.. erm.. I don't want to talk about shows that haven't been brought up.. But, sure, Lucy had a kid. But her character was nothing about being a mother.

Lucy is definitely the most famous female TV character of all time.

She is not a TV mom.

TV moms are like pornography, you know it when you see it.
