Thoughts on AOE3?
I have a chance to pick up AOE3 for $20. Is it worth it? I'm not a huge fan of the RTS genre, but I do like Dawn of War which is an RTS. Should I pick it up?

I have never played the game, so this probably isn't the advice you're looking for...
...but in my opinion, a game has to really suck to not be worth $20. I mean, how long does it take you to recoup the losses from that? An hour? That being said, if you're not a fan of the RTS genre, then the game probably isn't for you, from what I recall of the AOE series.

That's exactly the conundrum that I am in. A well done RTS is great, I just don't think that many are well done. But, for $20 how can you go wrong? But, that is $20 that could go towards another better game.

I don't go out and spend a lot of money on games unless I know I will like it. That may keep me from buying some games that I might like, but I'd rather be too cautious than frivolous with my gaming money.

my review: http://www.gamenikki.com/g3/reviews/pc/Display.php?id=1 It's good. Very solid. Not sure that I'd call it great, but, I'm not a huge fan of RTS. Is it worth $20? yeah, I think so.

I have played for years all in the series but the new AOE3.
I did have a friend who has it give me the low down, and it sounds like an improved version of the others. For $20 you will have hours of fun, for sure. Play some friends online and crush you buddies cities and you will be very happy you spent the 20 bucks. |
