FOFC Confessional
I think "Christmas Wrapping" by The Waitresses might be my favorite song of all time.
"Bah, humbug!" No, that's too strong 'Cause it is my favorite holiday But all this year's been a busy blur Don't think I have the energy To add to my already mad rush Just 'cause it's 'tis the season. The perfect gift for me would be Completions and connections left from Last year, ski shop, Encounter, most interesting. Had his number but never the time Most of '81 passed along those lines. So deck those halls, trim those trees Raise up cups of Christmas cheer, I just need to catch my breath, Christmas by myself this year. Calendar picture, frozen landscape, Chilled this room for twenty-four days, Evergreens, sparkling snow Get this winter over with! Flashback to springtime, saw him again, Would've been good to go for lunch, Couldn't agree when we were both free, We tried, we said we'd keep in touch. Didn't, of course, 'til summertime, Out to the beach to his boat could I join him? No, this time it was me, Sunburn in the third degree. Now the calendar's just one page And, of course, I am excited Tonight's the night, but I've set my mind Not to do too much about it. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! But I think I'll miss this one this year. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! But I think I'll miss this one this year. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! But I think I'll miss this one this year. Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! But I think I'll miss this one this year. Hardly dashing through the snow Cause I bundled up too tight Last minute have-to-do's A few cards a few calls 'Cause it's r-s-v-p No thanks, no party lights It's Christmas Eve, gonna relax Turned down all of my invites. Last fall I had a night to myself, Same guy called, halloween party, Waited all night for him to show, This time his car wouldn't go, Forget it, it's cold, it's getting late, Trudge on home to celebrate In a quiet way, unwind Doing Christmas right this time. A&P has provided me With the world's smallest turkey Already in the oven, nice and hot Oh damn! Guess what I forgot? So on with the boots, back out in the snow To the only all-night grocery, When what to my wondering eyes should appear In the line is that guy I've been chasing all year! "I'm spending this one alone," he said. "Need a break; this year's been crazy." I said, "Me too, but why are you? You mean you forgot cranberries too?" Then suddenly we laughed and laughed Caught on to what was happening That Christmas magic's brought this tale To a very happy ending! " Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Couldn't miss this one this year! Merry Christmas! Merry Christmas! Couldn't miss this one this year! I had to get that off my chest. Last edited by cthomer5000 : 11-28-2005 at 11:48 PM. |

I like the version of All You Need is Love from Love, Actually. More to the point, I think Kiera Knightly looks incredible in Love, Actually. |

John Lennon's Happy Christmas (War is Over) for me. Ironically, my least favorite Christmas song is from another Beatle. I loathe McCartney's Wonderful Christmas.

Are you talking about the horrible song the weird ex drug head sings through the whole movie? My mind is drawing a blank on what it is, or the original it's a take off on... BTW - that is one of the best xmas movies ever...It's a Wonderful Life will always be the best though |

This thread is funny. One of my "confessions" is that I loved Love, Actually. Great, great movie.
Another is that my favorite Christmas song is I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus by John Cougar/Mellencamp/Cougar Mellencamp. And finally, I find Keira Knightley completely unattractive. Not ugly, it's just that whole body of a 12 year old boy thing. She's pretty, though.

Pretty simple. I consider the word "attractive" in the context of being attracted to someone physically. She's pretty but I am in no way attracted to her physically/sexually and can't imagine I ever would be.

I totally agree with this. She as on The Daily Show recently, and looked like a skinny nine year old boy, with a rather pretty face. That description, in its entirety, isn't my cup of tea. |

She's probably at her best when fully swaddled in burlap or other heavy clothing and gear -- so all we see is her face and we get to speculate about the rest. When she's a skinny little boy playing soccer or a skinny little boy wearing a t-shirt, it's just not working for me.

I agree with Quik about the thread title. I opened it ready to divulge the events of my druken birthday party of a few days back (what I can remember anyway).
As far as christmas songs go, I like to force my students to learn "Sleigh Ride" by Lorrie Morgan. And if I get a really big group I make them do "Carol of the Bells". |

Well, I felt it was a pretty embarssing "confession" for a guy who works in music and does basically nothing outside of listen to it 24/7. There are millions better songs, but for some reason this one if my favorite. And I don't just mean x-mas songs (but everyon just ran with that single thing). Also, I killed somebody once. There, now we're on topic. |

I delight in the bad christmas music. My iPod has a playlist of 55 strange and offbeat Christmas songs. ANything by Bob Rivers automatically makes my list.

Why, when people say this, is it always an 8 to 12 year old boy? Are 8 to 12 year old girls' bodies too sexy to make the point?
