I used a new system that doesn't make sense until late in the season.
Sounds like you could use a tissue, though. I thought the Sooner nation was about "no excuses" these days. Oh wait. That only applied when you won. Sorry about that.

I was really asking what proved that Texas Tech deserved to move up, not making excuses. I don't think that a controversial win proves seven points up in the standings. Thanks for answering though, I'm sure there is a logical reason in your system (no sarcasm). I have no excuses for the fact that we are 6-4 right now, certainly not winning championships. However, I can also understand that its a young, rebuilding team with a bright future. To be honest, I left the Tech game really happy that it was a great game, and we came back when I had given up hope (down 17-7). We fought back and played with intensity, and I was happy to see that. In the stadium, I didn't get a chance to see the calls, and I was peeved that we let it slip away on defense, and yes, if we had taken care of business, we wouldn't have had to let it come down to that. It still feels bad to think you were cheated by the refs, not on a judgement penalty, but on a cut-and-dried call...and on a couple. I mean, at least we even have replay this year, imagine if we had lost on the catch that is hardly even a bobble, just a drop, since he didn't even have possession out of bounds. The thing is, the important people are saying no excuses still. Stoops says he won't protest, we shoudl have done other things to not let it get to there. I don't think there's many people outside of Lubbock who would say the 4th and 3 catch wasn't a bad spot. But, that doesn't mean that I'm saying that we We didn't have excuses in 1999 when we weren't winning all of our games (and we had the same record heading into the Bedlam game). I don't think we are making excuses now. Sometimes calls go against you and it sucks...yes, I think we should have won the game, yes I think we were and are the better team, but we didn't, so we're 6-4. I don't think we're making excuses for the game, just venting about the call. We could have def. done other things to win that game, especially late. |

Yep. I'm not typically one to cry foul with the refs. I come from the philosophy that you get some, you lose some as far as calls. And even though I think that was one of the most unfairly called games in a long time, and TT did not really win that game, the records are official regardless of what replays show. I moved TT up in my rankings as well. I don't think they're as good as their record suggests, but I can't really argue that they don't deserve to be ranked. |

You guys are completely dissing Fresno State. Cartman doesn't even list them.
I think that is the first time I've ever typed the "word" Dissing. Please let me know if that is the correct usage. |

They were the first team to miss the cut on my list, so they are #26 in my book. I did have them ranked last week. My reasoning for dropping them is that anytime you score 42 points you should win the game, even against the #1 team in the rankings. If it had been a 24-21 game, I'd probably still have them ranked this week. But at 8-2, I'm sure they will be back in my poll if they win their next game.

Isn't the solecismic.com poll supposed to become more effective as the season wears on?
UNC is probably my second favorite team in college football, but at 5-5, I have trouble figuring how they are the 15th best team in the country. They lost to a 2-loss Louville team by about 50 points, but are still 9 spots ahead of them. Georgia Tech at #6, Stanford at #21, and an overall low rating or SEC teams also seem way off. |
