Damn computer...help!
Seems as though my computer wanted to take a dump on me...when I start up the machine, it goes through the load process, and just before it would get to the spot where Windows would load, it sits on a black screen with a white flashing cursor...and just sits there. Nothing else happens, just chills on this screen. I tried running the Windows Recovery Console crap on the Windows CD, did the chkdsk (to which it told me that the drive had errors, no shit?), did the fix thing with chkdsk...took like two hours, but didn't help. Not sure what else I can do from the console. I do have another hard drive that I could install Windows from and boot from that to maybe do a virus scan (I am highly thinking this is that the problem is)...any other possible suggestions from the wonderful minds of FOFC? Maybe you guys have run into something similar. Thanks in advance guys

Sounds like a bad HD, install windows on the new HD and try to slave that drive to recover the data you need.

No problem, if chkdsk took that long, the damage is probably too much for successful recovery of bad sectors, but you still might be able to get the data off of it.
Time to get a new HD. |
