HATTRICK question.... Need Veterans imput...
Im playing a 4-5-1 and attacking with both wingers.
now i have my 2 inner mids playing normal. should i keep them at normal?? here they are... whaddya think?? Alexander Blanco 67 000 US$, 27 years, passable form Has wretched experience and passable leadership abilities [Head] Stamina: passable Keeper: disastrous Playmaking: passable Passing: passable Winger: wretched Defending: disastrous Scoring: weak Set Pieces: wretched He's got great passing and the Head skill. So should i play him offensive as well?? But his defending is just plain terrible so should i play him defensive to help make up for it?? Or should i stick to normal? here's the other one 56 000 US$, 19 years, passable form Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities Stamina: excellent Keeper: disastrous Playmaking: inadequate Passing: weak Winger: weak Defending: inadequate Scoring: weak Set Pieces: disastrous He's not that great but im a little weak in the midfield area. He gets me 2 stars every game so i cant complain. Should i play him offensive, Defensive or normal?? Lemme know what you guys think.

Ah, so you've drank the Kool-Aid, too, huh. Remember, you haven't been completely lost to the Dark Side until you play a 5-4-1.
The key disadvantage to the 4-5-1 is the weak central attack. You want to get good passing inner mids to counteract this. Without a doubt, play the 1st midfielder offensively. His defense is so poor (er, disastrous) that even playing him defensively wouldn't get any defense out of him. As for the second guy, it depends. Check the team you're playing against and see if you need more help offensively or defensively.

Blanco is definite offensive-midfielder material, and I would play him offensive just about every time out, if I were you.
As far as the other one goes, I've got to agree with what's been said here so far. He's more of a utility midfielder, and should be played offensive, defensive, or normal depending upon the situation. With weak passing, you won't get much offensive help out of him, but every little bit helps with only one forward. The 4-5-1 is a strong defensive formation, so you shouldn't need to call upon your midfielders or wingers to play defensively very often.

ok thanx guys... Alex is going offensive from here on out and ill probally play the other guy Defensive and normal against teams with weak defenses.
With 1 midfeilder and 2 wingers playing offensive and my forward is a stud (Solid scoring, passable passing), my attack should be pretty good.

Im no vet but I always try to play my players to their strengths. For example if I have a Middie with poor Defense I always play him offensice. I have one player worth 90 or 100K and he has Passable Winger and Defending ratings. I play him as a defensive wingback and he will get me 2 1/2 or 3 stars everytime. If he plays set as normal he will get 2 or 2 1/2 stars.

If you play both wingers offensive, the 1st guy offensive and the 2nd defensive you'll only have 1 middie set to normal and that will likely hurt your midfield too much. I'd play them like this--assuming both wingers offensive:
Offensive minded: 1st guy offensive, 2nd guy normal Defensive minded: 1st guy normal, 2nd guy defensive

Ahh, no, that would be playing them against their weakness which is not a good strategy IMHO. For middies: Normal -- Playmaking, Stamina, Passing, Defense in order of importance. Offensive -- more Passing, less Playmaking; Defensive -- more Defense, less Playmaking So if you had say a middie with inad. playmaking and solid passing, setting him to offensive would be playing him to his strengths. YMMV.
