eLicense Control under Windows XP
Has anybody else had a problem with the eLicense control panel not opening in XP when you double click on it? If so, how did you solve the problem?

The LicCtrl service is probably stopped on your machine. Go into control panel, admin tools, services to check. If it's not running, start it and you should be back in business.
If that is not the problem then .... good luck!

It was running, but just to be sure I stopped it and restarted it. Still won't let me in.

right-click on the executable file or shortcut for the program (e.g., frfoot2004.exe) and access the elicense control panel from the context menu that pops up.

There isn't one when I do that. There was in Windows 98, but not in XP for some reason. |

I thought you right-clicked on the elicense icon in the control panel. I could be wrong, and am at work so I can't check it.

Alright, smartass. Explain to me why I'm having the problem with every e-licensed game when these were all fresh installs using the latest executables - i.e., I haven't patched at all. |

Do I look like ViaTech, jackass. Only reason I took the time to do a search you didn't is to point out to you that others have had the same problem and that VPI suggested asking ViaTech for support. now good day |

I have the same problem. Went back and forth with elicense through probably 10 emails. This is the final response I received:
We cannot reproduce the problem so it is hard for us to figure out what is going on. For now you can always contact us to release the license for you. I know it is not the perfect solution but we tried everything on your computer and still doesn't work. I'm sorry for others having this problem but I'm glad to know I'm not alone. They gave me diagnostics to run, generic things to try and nothing worked. I double click on the folder and get absolutely no response. I'm not sure where to go from here. |
