Thumbs up OT: HATStats, Great Hattrick stats!!!

This is an amazing site I just found on the Canadian conference. I don't think anybody has mentionned it yeat. It's called HATStats and there's one site for USA and a new one for Canada. They have been approved for scanning Hattrick, so they can get quite a lot of statistics.

The good news is that they don't rate the teams the same way HTSCB does, not with stars rating, but with the same rating we tend to use around here: the NevStar Index, although they don't call it that The exact same thing, add all the positional ratings, counting midfield for triple its value. Simply visiting this site could make managing the rankings much much easier and less time consuming...

Anyway, here are the links:

HATStats Canada

HATStats USA

The Canada version still isn't complete (they still have a logo for HATStats England on the front page), but my guess is that the USA one is pretty much complete.

DataKing's Screamin' Seamen ranked 78th in div IV for week 14 of last season, while Lytic's SouthPark Cows ranked 56th.

The main and only difference between their way of ranking teams and the way I do it, is that I don't simply use the last week, but a weighted moving average of the last three weeks...

Now, go stats freaks, go munch and crunch some numbers

Sweet, I hadn't heard they had found a host for the US site yet. It will be nice to be able to see who gets promoted or demoted to where before it is offical.

Are you planning on using this to compile our NSI ratings? Looks to be accurate for my team at least. Definately takes out some of the grunt work involved.

For some reason it includes a match from before I took over the team on my record.

It doesn't seem to have all the stats, yet. My team's cup match wasn't included & my team's value is listed as $0 (or 0 pounds, actually)

Very cool site, though. I'm glad they found someone to host it.

I'll probably start with a thread asking FOFCer to post their game ratings, leaving a deadline of Monday night. To concentrate all the ratings in one long page would be really the fastest way (maybe about 5-10 seconds a team, compared to 20-30 if on Hattrick)Look for that thread in the dynasty forum at some point tomorrow, with instructions and an example as to how I need the ratings to be copy/pasted.

After that, for the missing ratings, my guess is that it would almost be a toss up between hunting the ratings on Hattrick and the HATStats site. Maybe a bit faster on the HATStats site, but not by much, since my sparser is quite helpful and I only need to copy/paste the ratings to compute the NSI...

It still has players I sold at least 5 weeks ago, none of the teams in my series are right, all the teams have changed since the midle of last season.

Okay heres the deal, with Hatstats USA. I looked around for a server, but to no avail. However Hatstats and HTSCB are now sharing the scanning duties which has allowed Hatstats to expand to different countries. Griggle HT mailed me since I was the one trying to get them.

They weren't suppose to be announced yet, the Canadian guy jumped the gun a bit. So you US guys, if you would do me a favor and keep the link of the conferences until griggle gives me the word I'd really appreciate it. Thanks guys.

the cup matches took a long while in Canada and there are less game than in USA. Once it's done, it should show you every game of the 1st round, which is a lot. Interesting thing is that it will also tell yuo your seeding in the cup. My team is seeded #564 or so in Canada...

To NYFAN and naybody wondering about it, some day, I'll do some sort of FAQ about the rankings, but they are still kind of a novelty

NSI stands for NevStar Index since the way of computing the team rating was first proposed by BevStar. You simply add the numerical value of all your positional ratings of your game, giving 1 for disastrous, 2 for poor, 3 for weak, and so on, with the midfield rating counting for three times its value, since midfield is so important ni Hattrick. For example, taking my team's latest league game, it would be:

Pintendre Pittbulls
Midfield: weak (4*3=12)
Right Side Defence: passable (6)
Central Defence: passable (6)
Left Side Defence: passable (6)
Right Side Attack: weak (4)
Central Attack: poor (2)
Left Side Attack: weak (4)
NSI = 41

This is my team's NSI score for week 19.01. To do the rankings for a team in a given week, say for week 19.01, I do a weighted average of that team's last three league games, with the latest game having a weight of 3, the second latest a weight of 2 and the third one counting a single time, we then divide the sum by 6.

For my team again, its FOFC rankings score as of week 19.01 would be (41*3 + 42*2 + 42*1) / 6 = 41.5. This is the value that will be used to rank my team compared to all the other FOFCers.

Reason for the weighted average was to counter the fact that a team might have an injury to a key player and then would be penalized if in a given week they can't perform to their regular level...

Hope this helps...

BTW, the ratings on HATStats are made straight from your team's last game only.

BevStar...that's me.

Actually, I'd just as soon have them called "Match Ratings" and be done with it, especially as it seems that the Hatstats sites have used the same rating format...which sort of makes it "standard," if you'd like to call it that.

illinifan, if you have updated HPoli to latest version, it now retrieves the files correctly. At least it did for me.

Simply open the page of the game you want to add in a new window, then right click anywhere in the page (not on a link) and select "view source". This should open a Notepad window with the HTML code in it. CTRL+A will select everything, then copy/paste it in the right window of HattrickPoli... Should do it, at least that's how I do it and it's working for me

What do you mean? Are you able to automatically retrieve match ratings??? I thought that feature was still not approved by Hattrick...

I just tried again and it retrieved my file from tonight. I know it is new because it has the right stars for the new guys that haven't played for me before.

Did anyone else get it to work? I can look under 'View/Matches" and it has my last 6 listed with teams and all my rankings for each position. Only thing missing is most of the crowd size line.

If you are using windows XP and IE, you might need to clear your cache before being able to "view source". It did that to me. I cleared my cache and it worked just fine afterward. Beware, if you haven't cleared your cache in a while, it may take a loooong time... Good luck!

Under "tools", go to "Internet Options", in the middle there, there's a section called "Temporary Internet Files". Click on "delete files" right there. Should do it.
