OT: NBA Draft Preview
We all know LeBron is suppose to be a "franchise" player? But how is the overall picture looking for this year draft? Is Carmello going to a "franchis-type" player if he comes out? How bout this kid I heard but lack much info about coming from Yugolslovia? Is he the next Yao Ming?

Darko is more like the next Nowitzski from what I've seen (which isn't much really)
#1 LeBron #2 Darko #3 Carmello?

This really seems to be the consensus for comparisons for this kid, he's not really an outside player like Nowitzski. More of of an all around post game with a solid jumper like Garnett. Lebron goes #1, then Milicic most likely #2, but after Carmello's performance in the tourney, and with a good workout, I'm sure some teams would be tempted to take him over Milicic. My opinion is Milicic is the best player in the draft, then Carmello, then James. Milicic remember, is younger than Lebron, so your really taking a chance, but he's big, and definately not soft, he likes a lot of contact, so he's a little different than the stereotypical European. |

This is a very important thread because My Knicks are gonna be at the top of the lottery after the fix goes in.
( Actually, I think that the Knicks will wind up with #3 - Anthony ) |

Based on what I have seen, I have a hard time rating Lebron over Carmello. Anthony has shown the ability to dominate college opponents, while James was held pretty much in check in half-court sets by Ndudi Ebi in the McDonalds game. James has no jump shot, and doesn't play much defense. Compare that with Anthony, who is much more polished as a shooter and defender.
I see both players with similar upsides, but I would take Anthony as the risk is less because he has done it against good college competition. Arlie Last edited by Arles : 04-08-2003 at 08:36 PM. |

I would take Darko, Lebron, Carmelo in that order. I think Carmelo lacks hustle too often, slacks when he doesnt have the ball, or the ball is on the other side of the court. With that said, he is a great talent who could easily be a #1 in most drafts(see 2 years ago).

I think it all pends on who gets the picks. If Cleveland gets a chance at LeBron, they snatched him. I could see the Raptors, if they land a top pick, taking Anothy. He could be a big ticket pusher.
Speaking of Cleveland, are they being invegasted for tanking games? |

Rick Rickert thinks he can be a lottery pick, quite sad.
He wasn't half the player Dusty Rychart was for the Gophers and Rychart's playing overseas. I wish the best to the kid, but I think Ricker really fucked it up if he doesn't withdraw. He needed at least another year to develop before I'd consider him in the first round. |

Rickert was a decent College player, but I can't see him even getting drafted. He would be pretty much worthless.
