Traveler's Guide To Las Vegas

Reading the "Coolest/Warmest Cities Visited" threads gave me an idea for some new Traveler's Guides Threads. Basically someone can start a New Thread for a city of their choice and anyone can input their thoughts about the hotspots, restaurants, points of interest around that city.

This thread will be about Las Vegas, since it's definitely a popular place to visit...

---
Only recently have I been going to Las Vegas for reasons other than gambling. I have finally discovered the Vegas nightlife. The clubs and bars out there are way better than those I've seen in other cities (of course, I've not been to many).

Anyone going to Las Vegas must pay a visit to the Palms Hotel & Casino. It's a few blocks off the main Strip, but definitely worth the detour. So far considered the hottest place in town, the Palms houses the GhostBar (which is a roof-top indoor/outdoor lounge) and Rain (nightclub). Can be pretty crowded at times, but that just means more people to meet. Everyone is there just to have fun, and you wont be disappointed. Oh yeah, and by the way... GhostBar = Bachelorette Party Hotspot. Booyah!

In the end of May, I'm heading back out there (for a bachelor party ) and we managed to book a suite in Palms! I'll report my findings here when I return. I better work on my "cocky and funny" routine.

In the meantime, if anyone else has something to share about Las Vegas, feel free to post!

Find a hotel that keeps the pool open past 5:00. Mandalay Bay has an awesome "beach" area, but they close early. I know they want you in the casino, but still, that sucks.

For any serious blackjack players out there, you owe it to yourself to hit the Palms double-deck. 70% penetration and no heat for a $25-$250 spread. Just keep your session to an hour or less, use some minimal cover betting, and you'll fly under the surveillance radar.

Olympic Gardens. Anyone who has been knows that I need to say no more.

The night I went there were about 250 customers and about 250 hot dancers.

He is talking about serious blackjack players who count cards. If you are not counting then you are not considered to be a "pro" or a serious player, but a recreation player and victim. The 25-250 spread refers to bumping up your bet when the count is in your favor. A drastic change in the amount of your bet from one hand to the next indicates you may be counting and will cause the house to watch you very closely. Card counting is not illegal, but the casinos don't like it and since they are private property they can ask you to leave at any time with or without reason. If they catch you counting they will ask you to leave.

The club scene is great in Vegas. You must check out The Beach, Club Rio, and Dylan's while you are out there. Club Rio has a very strict dress code so be prepared to get turned away if you are not sharp dressed.

I'll second the Olympic Gardens recommendation. And since time doesn't exist in Vegas, me and my buds always go to OG in the afternoon (you get a lot more attention from the ladies and they are "freer" with their behaviour).

I still think Cheetah's is far superior to OG. I like the atmosphere, the ratio, and the women.

Been to Crazy Horse Too and Cheetahs. Both superior in quantity and quality.

Stay away from Tally Ho. Stay far away.

Shifting gears: Food, buffet style. Rio's World Buffet and their Seafood Buffet are both good. But then I found Bellagio's Buffet. Mmmm... delicous!
