Old Games Running Slow
So I'm a member of Yahoo Games on Demand. Looking for a game to play I decide to try Close Combat IV: Battle of the Bulge. I download the 500 megs and start to play. I try one battle (which I win) but give up on the game. Why? Because anytime I try and do anything there is a noticable lag. This drives me nuts. This is a game which requires the following:
* System: Pentium-200 or equivalent * RAM: 32 MB RAM * CD-ROM: 4X CD-ROM * Video Memory: 4 MB VRAM * Hard Drive Space: 100 MB * Mouse: Yes * Sound Board: Yes * DirectX: DirectX v6.1 Considering I have a Pentium IV (3 ghz) with 2 gigs of ram, and a radeon 9700 with 512 ram, I don't think it's too much to ask to for the game to run flawlessly. Essentially it has to be poor programming which causes the lag and I find that to be so unacceptable. |

That's really weird, I've found that re-loading old games like Close Combat 3, 4, and 5 results in the gameplay being too fast. And have to slow down all the options and there is never any lag at all.

I wasn't aware that the ATI Radeon 9700 came in a 512 meg configuration?
