I'm with Stupid #114 - Results
1. Every year, it seems that an NFL team that's expected to be very bad ends up contending for the Super Bowl. Which team is most likely to fill that role this season?
A wide spread of choices here with some bunching at the top. In other words, about half of you can stop reading right now. Code:
2. How tall are you? The idea here was to see if people would understand that they need to give the most common answer, not the one that happens to apply to them. The overwhelming majority of people got that, so in hindsight I think this was a weak question. Code:
3. Past or present, name a rap act other than Eminem. True story: I was a rap fan in high school. I wore a parka all the time, even when it was summer. I still know all the words to every rap song of the early 90s. I felt I could relate, apparently unaware of the fact that white middle-class suburban kids were not the target audience of NWA. Code:
4. Name the best Tom Cruise movie. You know, I really thought this would be a decent question. The guy has been in a ton of movies, many of them pretty good. Shows what I know... this turned into a runaway. Not one of you liked A Few Good Men? Code:
5. Other than speeding, name a traffic violation you commit relatively often. I like this question, but I forced myself into a role that nobody running an IWS ever wants -- making judgement calls about how to group answers. See below. Code:
But the tough one was "failure to signal" vs. "bad lane change". I think they're different, since you can fail to signal in situations other than a lane change, and you can make a bad lane change in ways other than not signalling. But unfortunately, this meant that the lone person who was specifc enough to say "changing lanes without signalling" ended up getting stuck with a single point. In the end, none of it affected the overall winner. I think. Actually, I didn't check. Oh well. If you don't like it, maybe you should have thought of that before you decided not to win IWS #113. 6. There is unanimous agreement among music experts and historians that Guns N' Roses is the greatest rock band of all time. Which of their songs was the most awesome? I'm not kidding. They really are the greatest band ever. No big shock here, I would have bet on the Big Four getting all the votes although the end result is a mild surprise. Code:

Doh. Great, except for the rap question (damn I am an idiot there). Argh.

I'm guessing my ~350,000 isn't going to cut it here. I had a big swing-and-miss on the height question... I didn't think people would expect people to be thinking so tall.

My favorite Guns song is "Used to Love Her" because my wife hates it, but I went with Sweet Child O'Mine.

Impressive how nobody had the perfect score, that should be the guidelines to determine whether a IWS was a good one or just a regular one.
Let's see, why did I end up somewhere in the middle and not in my usual bottom3 spot? 1. Arizona Cardinals -> The obvious IWS choice to me. 2. 6'0" -> Another obvious IWS answer. 3. 50 cent -> I failed to think of Snoop Dog, but would have gone 50 cent anyway. 4. Jerry McGuire -> Hello? Football? FOF? Arizona Cardinals in question 1? I guess I was wrong... 5. Drunk driving -> Driving Under Influence? I figured that would top the 'Stupid' list. 6. November Rain -> Ranked highest by Dutch music fans, I guess they like different songs than 'Stupid' (GnR is not my music, so I googled a bit)

I thought the Ricky Williams hype might make Miami the good IWS choice. I don't think that was the difference between me winning or losing but I was suprised I didn't have the #1 answer there.

I'm surprised so many people took Arizona, mainly because they still seem to be largely in disarray.
Miami was bad last year, but they're not a perennial loser. They didn't even make my short list.

I agree, but the media has been talking up Arizona--in part because of a weak NFC West and in part because of Dennis Green. Personally, I think that Kurt Warner came back down to Earth a couple of years ago. Which means that the team has no quarterback. Which means that the bluechip wideouts are pretty much useless. Which means that the team will be bad again. But that's just what I think--not what stupid thinks. |

Anyone else disappointed that 3 people considered driving drunk as the thing they do most commonly than anything? :shakes head:
And BTW, Mapes. It is Snoop Dogg and Jerry Maguire. Canadian! |

It's an excellent GnR song, and might even be my favorite -- but I was pretty sure it wouldn't be stupid's favorite.

Fudge. The first one was pretty much a crapshoot for me, as I haven't been keeping up with my NFL off-season hype. Credit that to being a 49ers fan
