MSNBC spinning the War news.
I was watching the Sahaf's news confrence on fox news channel and listening to Sahaf speaking in english(roughly). I turned it over to MSNBC to see what else was on and it was the exact same Confrence but MSNBC had an interpreter.
SAHAF--Our military is out there attacking here and attacking there, moving forward. Interpreter--Our military is out there trying to attack here and defend there. Maybe I am naive, but I would not of thought that our press(US) would try to put a US spin on the War so blatantly. Especially MSNBC, I have enjoyed there coverage of the war up till now. And, found it somewhat spin free. Shame on you MSNBC

MSNBC? Twisting the news? Seriously, Taur, you can't expect any media source to be completely spin free. I see your point here. The translation is clearly off and is misleading, but in all honesty, there has probably been more of a pessimistic spin in the media then an optimistic one. One needs look no further then the New York Times, Philadelphia Inquirer, Washington Post, and the Los Angelas Times to see doom and gloom spin on what has been a very low-casulty and effecient war to this point.

I wonder how often this happens?
And, Yes I expect a Spin Free Interpreter. Putting a slant on the news is one thing, but putting words in your oponents mouth is another. Actually I believe slander is illegal in this country.

Translations are never 100% spot on. Doesn't look like a big mistake to me.

My favorite interpretation mistake came a few days ago when when a French ambassador to the UN said the phrase:
"une peche d'enfer" The interpreter on C-Span translated it literally as "A peach from hell" Which is the literal translation. However, this interpreter obviously didn't actually know French, because, it actually means: "Fireball" -Anxiety

he was speaking very thick, heavily accented English. Sometime people will employ interpreters if they think it will be too difficult for people to understand.
