Anti-International Sports in the U.S
I have wondered about this for a while and with some of the sentiments in the “Baseball dropped from Olympics as of 2012 “thread, I figured I would bring it up now. What is it about international sporting competition that turns off both U.S. athletes and fans? It seems to me that any sporting event that pits the U.S. against another country is doomed to fail before it even starts. The athletes have no or very little desire to represent the U.S. in international sporting events and the U.S. sports fans are indifferent or worse when it comes to supporting the teams and/or events. Does one cause the other? Maybe I am wrong but it seemed like in the past, this was not the case. What, if anything, has changed? Just curious.

Ban US proffesionals from the Olympics. We may still lose, but at least we'll have men and women who look like they are at least interested in playing for Team USA.
