FOF - Nice "Boom"

Well, the NAFL just completed its second rookie draft. The draft class looked really weak so many of us figured there may be a couple of nice post-draft "booms." This one surprised me though.

In the 7th round, with the 19th pick, I took RB Cris Ladner. Honestly, I only took him for 2 reasons as I didn't really need a RB that badly. First of all, he had good receiving talents so I thought maybe I could change him to a WR. And second, he was from OU.

Anyway, definitely one of the bigger "booms" I have ever seen.

Interestingly, since he's such a low pick - you could probably not play him very much his rookie year and then wrap him into a low cost, very long term deal. Good luck!

Wouldnt it be awesome if in MP the other owners could not see the ratings for your players and could only go on combine/college/pro stats?

Of course the combine and college stats would have to universally mean something but a man can dream.

That would be great.

I really hope Jim is redonig FOF. There is so much he could add to make unbelieveable.

I thought the goal in simulations is to make it believable? Also, I hope he isn't redonig FOF, whatever that is...maybe that's why it's taking so long.

BTW, let it be known that I am very jealous of anybody who has success drafting in MP. Very jealous.

i wouldnt be too jealous of this pick. its great for cuckoo, but if we re-ran the draft 100 times, this is probably the only time that rb would come out looking like this.

Lucky you. That's just about the opposite of what happened me just this last ImperialFL draft we had. Drafted a RB with the 33rd overall pick and the mofo busted on me. We use TCY drafts and this guy was a backup at Texas. The starter also entered the draft, but was around a 20/35 guy. Now they're both 20/35 guys. yaaaaaaah!

Yep, I agree. I've done a lot of drafts in solo play and never seen anything like this. Plus, this guy was so close to being an undrafted FA. I have made good picks, and I have made bad picks. This one was just dumb luck.

Hm... at a 60-something overall, he'll likely be near the bottom of the blue bars, but still outstanding for 7th round.

I have never, ever seen a 7th rounder go boom like that! I would be interested to see his red/green bars after you sign him, though, because at a 62 rating I have a feeling his bars will end up at the low end of the blue bars; but I am just guessing though.

As soon as we get through training camp, I'll post a screen of what he looks like, but I would guess you guys'd be right. Either way, it's great for a 7th rounder and challenging for playing time.

At 4.63, he's faster than Maurice Clarrett.

This is probably only the second boom RB ive ever seen that late in the draft. Blackader got one that boomed in the 7th round of the Wigfl draft one year. Last season the guy rushed for 2080 yards. Not a super pass catcher, so his overall rating is like 57/58 after 4 seasons. Still not bad for a 7(21) pick.

So going into the draft the backup looked better than the starter? Why am I not surprised? Oh yeah... TCY.

A matter for the league constitution. Personally, this kind of thing would be so hard to police that I think that you just have to let it go and assume that everyone is doing the same thing.

Yep. For me, though, I actually have a lot of depth at running back. If he is the best player, then I'll start him. But I have the former rookier of the year plus a guy who rushed for 1378 yards and 7 touchdowns last season. Not too bad. I'll probably see how he comes out after training camp and performs in preseason. If he does well, it'll make someone trade bait after this season probably. But I won't purposefully not start him just to gain a contract advantage. I have way too much cap room for that.

Well, for those who are interested, here's what he looks like after training camp. At least as far as ratings, he appears to be the new starter in Dallas.

"Need Scorecard."

Apparently the fans in Dallas will be dead and buried before they accept a Sooner in Emmitt's role?

Hahaha. Well, he is a 7th rounder. They'll come around eventually.

I just had a 2nd year RT that I was counting on go from 14/74 to 14/18 in camp.

I should have known something by the fact that he didn't progress at all his rookie year.

Yeah, his ratings were at the low end of the blue ratings as expected, but still he will be darn good. And a 7th rounder to boot.
