Odd, the way you were grabbing them, they looked more disc-shaped.

Ah well. I have the same juggling bags. And some glow-in-the dark stars/moon ones.

If you like those here are a couple more short ones from my juggling dynasty:

easier cause they are shorter and directly linkable. (the juggling is harder, though)

Probably a combination of the low quality video and the fact that these things are old and worn (the walnut-shell inside the cube is totally crushed so they do squash pretty nicely).

What inspired you to take up juggling (just curiousity)?

The 5 balls was impressive! I never got above 4, myself...though now you're making me consider picking it up again..

Nothing really inspired me. Just found I liked it. Though what inspired me to get serious about eventually learning to do it on a high level is probably Jason Garfield. He totally rules.

Tons of videos on his site: all impressive, a lot are funny, too.

I'd like to get into juggling, too. I can do a very basic three-object juggle (I regularly use hockey pucks at work), and I can do a very basic one-handed juggle of two objects. I'd like to get some juggling bags, but I don't know where to get any. I could use mail order if I could have them within 6 weeks, but if it'd take longer for some reason, I'd have to wait until I move across the country. Any suggestions?

I suggest that bean bag. HOWEVER you have to call them to order it and tell them you don't want the felt one that they will ship instead. Tell them you SPECIFICALLY want the one that is a denim-type material with walnut-shell inside. Otherwise they will send you the crappy cheap ones. They told me if I want the denim types again I just have to call because if I don't specify they will send those red velvety-felt things (yuck).

They are about $3 each I think and they always have gotten to me through the mail in under a week.

These bean bags are TERRIFIC when they are broken-in some (the walnut-shell gets crushed up a bit). When they are new and firm they aren't quite as good. They get better the longer you use them.

If you want a really cheap route, I can suggest to you how to make your own juggling balls out of balloons and lentils. (these work really well and are almost as good as juggling balls you can buy)

Thanks for the tips, MJ4H. Balloons and lentils, huh? Just for kicks, I might give that a shot. I'll probably order the ones from Klutz, too.

Ok, one more juggling question for MJ4H...where do you get your other supplies? If I end up picking things back up, I may actually "invest" in a set of clubs. Though I agree on the Klutz bags, they're awesome..

OK: here's what to do with balloons and lentils. First off you'll need about 15 9 inch balloons and a bag of lentils.

1. You will use 4-5 balloons per juggling ball, and the outer two will be visible, so if you are concerned about colors, now is the time to plan that out.

2. Take one balloon, and start to inflate it (this stretches out the neck) and then let it deflate. Then you will want to cut the end of the balloon off right where the neck ends and the balloon starts to open outward.

3 Do this for all of the balloons except the 3 balloons that will be the inside most balloons for each ball.

4. You will need a funnel of some type. The best way to make a funnel if you don't have one is to cut off the top part of a 20 oz. coke bottle (right where the flaring part ends and the bottle straightens out). Attach the innermost (uncut) balloon to the end of the funnel and pour the lentils in until it is the size you want. You may have to put the big part of the funnel up to your face and blow to inflat the balloon and let the lentils through into the balloon. If you do have to do this be careful to release the air SLOWLY or the lentils will go everywhere (trust me).

5. Now unattach the balloon from the funnel and cut the neck off like the other balloons. Then you will start wrapping the other balloons around the lentil-filled inner balloon until you have 4-5 total balloons.

6. Repeat for each juggling ball.

Well I picked up my clubs from a magic store in Little Rock. They are really just practice clubs and not very good at all. For stuff like that, I recommend buying online and researching your purchases. Lots of people have opinions on what clubs are good and what clubs suck. I don't have enough experience to offer anything else. However, you should be aware that good clubs will be a pretty significant investment.

That was pretty cool. I can only juggle two balls and a stick. They're attached, but the long stick makes it harder.

The unintentional comedy in this thread for perverts like me is simply astounding.

Kooshh balls are really good to learn on as well. They are soft and don't roll around when you drop them.

It's a great hobby.

A bit better video of me doing 5 balls. This is either 28 or 30 catches, I can't really tell. Since my best ever is 32, this is pretty close to my best up till now. The control is better, too (which is why I got more catches); it doesn't look so sloppy.
