Computer Sound Help
I consider myself quasi literate about this computer stuff, but I am baffled by a series of events that may or may not be related. This is a Compaq laptop, nearly two years old.
My wife was importing some CDs to iTunes. She noticed that the CDs were skipping while importing. A cleaning CD made things a little better, but not perfect. I restarted in order to get a fresh start. While logging in, the normal Win XP tones were sounding like they were skipping, cutting in and out. Spyware scans were normal (some cookies, but nothing else). Virus scans are clean. Something seems out of place, but I can't put my finger on it. Any help?

Try going to run and type "dxdiag" hit enter and see if adjusting the hardware sound accl. helps anything.

Sounds like the CD rom is going out. Hit eject and then clean the lens with alcohol. If that doesn't work and it's a removable CD rom, replace it.
