FM Youth Question

I am managing a League One club and I have never understood how clubs at any level "sign" young talent.

Do I send out scouts to search, find a 15 year old and offer him a contract? Is he protected (can a Man U like team come along and offer him more money) ?

I don't know the "rules" or how the whole prodedure works.

I am ready to finish my first season ever and don't want to move forward before trying to get ahold of some young talent..

Some youth members will be 'presented' to your team (as graduating from the youth academy) near the start of the season. The quality and number depends on the quality of your team's youth program. They are protected to the extent that while an upper level team can come in and sign one away without your permission, you would get a fee (determined by arbiters) for the player.

You can also send out scouts to find players and sign them - either unattached to the team in which case it's a free transfer; or on other squads in which case the same rules apply.

Also, check your squad's youth system rating, on your team's info page. The higher quality the youth set-up, the better the players should be. You can also petition the board to improve the squad's youth setup, with no guarantee of success, of course.

NB> You can also 'poach' youth players from other clubs if your reputation is sufficient to sway them to your club, you WILL have to pay compensation to their club however.
(direct cash bids for youth players aren't possible)

yeah..

send a scout to brazil to scout out under 21s...

if you're lucky (or unlucky depending on your point of view), you'll get page after page of messages regarding young talent.

i'm going to regret asking this, where is the team info page?
