No more pink jerseys for Arkansas

Nutt doesn't want to offend cancer survivors

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said that players caught loafing will no longer wear pink jerseys during practices in an effort to avoid offending breast cancer survivors.

Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well.

"That's the last thing I want to do, is to offend a cancer victim, someone who I know how strong and brave they are," Nutt said. "That was the last thing on our mind, to discredit somebody who has shown a lot of toughness. I've had members of my family who had cancer."

Nutt said the coaches are considering another color, possibly burnt orange, the color of Arkansas rival Texas.
Heh..the part about Texas cracks me up.

As a Texas fan I find it flattering.

We are not scheduled to play each other for the foreseeable future. And yet Nutt knows his audience well and caters to them even better. If you think about it, he's a very sharp guy. He continues to stay in the fans' good graces despite mediocre performance on the field.

I fully anticipate that after a couple more average seasons there will be a "leak" from Fayetteville regarding a proposed home-and-home series with Texas that Mack Brown turned down because he was "scared" to play Arkansas. Solid strategy to focus your fanbase's ire on your rival instead of yourself.

What? Is the color pink now trademarked? Idiots. Still, making them wear Texas colors is inspired

I've got to agree. This is ridiculous.

This whole realm of political correctness really bothers me. There are lots of things in this world that are pink, and the only thing that should relate the the pink breast-cancer-supporter ribbons are the pink breast-cancer-supporter ribbons.
