Ipod help please

I'm officially an old man, even at 28 years old, because technology left me so far back I am but a speck in the rearview... Here is my current issue - I have my Ipod currently in random mode, or shuffle, or whatever, but I wanted to try and go to a playlist instead. How the hell do I get it off shuffle? No button I push works to get it off the random mode. On/off doesn't work... Nothing works. A little help for an old man?

Thanks ya in advance.

it's in your settings - menu>settings>shuffle to get the shuffle off...

See, nothing happens when i hit 'menu.' All that happens is the time-indicator on the bottom switches views. And if I hold down the 'menu' button, then the backlight just toggles on/off.... ???

insert confused emoticon here....

btw, funny similar story - my 2 year old was fiddling with my ipod a few months ago and somehow turned on the alarm feature. every night it would go off at my desk, and I had NO clue how to turn it off. took me weeks to figure it out.

I don't let him mess with it anymore

I walked away from mine one day and when I came back in the room my two-year old had it and the OS on the thing was completely hosed...crashed... I couldn't get it to do anything.

I'm really no help, but I rue the day someone doesn't understand the concept of an IPod Shuffle and buys one. Hell, it's probably already happened thousands of times.

It's not that i don't undertstand the 'concept' of a shuffle, that I do. It's the mechanics of toggling it off and on that is eluding me...

And, I should mention, the IPOD was a gift; I didn't buy it. I never would have purchased something so scary...

I have no idea what generation I have. I don't even know what that means. It's an Ipod mini, that's all I know off the top of my head without looking at it.

My next attempt to solve this mystery is to ff through all 776 songs and see if the damn thing just needs to go through every song to turn off the shuffle... Then, when that doesn't work (love my optimism?), I'll try to hooking the damn thing back up to Itunes to see if it'll just reset it like that...

My head hurts.

Is the thing locked?

indicated by a small "padlock" icon on the screen and an orange color visible on the right side of the "hold switch" (on the top of the iPod).

Also... You can reset the thing and maybe will allow you Menu access again:

Toggle the Hold switch (set it to Hold, then turn
it off again). Then press the Menu and Select
buttons simultaneously for about 6 seconds, until
the Apple logo appears.

Hmmm.. none of the buttons work? Strange. You may want to take thetrilogy's advice and reset the iPod, so you can use the thing again.

That did it, thanks for your help. (Although I will admit I was a little skeptical with the Original Nintendo-like shortcut. A+B+A+B+Select+Start+Start+A...)

thanks again.
