What is in your 6 disc changer?

This morning, I realized that I had a wide range of genres in my 6 disc changer.

1 . Bad Religion - No Control
2 . Nirvana - Bleach
3. Frank Sinatra Greatest Hits Volume 1
4. Less Than Jake - B is for B-Sides
5. .hack/sign Original Soundtrack Disc 1
6. The Skatalites - Ball of Fire

What is in your 6 disc changer?

Is this a 'current' or a 'Rushmore' type thread?

Currently, my rotation is:
- Everything - Super Natural
- Counting Crows - random live recording
- Paul Oakenfold - Cream Anthems 97
- The Ocean Blue - Cerulean
- Radiohead - Kid A
- Coldplay - Parachutes

I don't have one, unfortunately. I brought Faith No More's King For Day..., and The Argument's Recess Serenade in the car this morning. I'll probably go pick up the new Tori Amos at lunch, as well.

hmmm, since the XM and IPOD were added to the car, my disc changer sits mostly empty.

I do have

Dread Zepplin - 5,000,000
Band of Susans - some CD, don't know the title.

What is a disk changer?

Got the iTrip until I can afford the Monster Cable version of the FM transmitter for my iPod. For as much time as I'm in my car (20 minutes a day) this was the perfect solution.

Current Playlist:

1. Fortress / Pinback
2. Little Dawn / Ted Leo / Pharmacists
3. The Widow / The Mars Volta
4. Evaporate / Communique
5. The Rat (Bonus Track) / The Walkmen
6. Placing You Center / Evening
7. Nowhere Again / The Secret Machines
8. Breakin' / The Music
9. Face It / The Reputation
10.Run / Snow Patrol
11.Keep Your Teeth / The Oranges Band
12.Water Ban / Pernice Brothers
13.Club Foot / Kasabian
14.All These Things That I've Done / The Killers
15.Evil / Interpol
16.Tables Turn / Decibully
17.I Do / Abra Moore
18.The Rest of My Life / Sloan
19.Tomorrow / Mat Kearney

Is this off the new album? I've tried and tried, but can't get into PB for some reason. The new album is getting more excellent reviews, which will probably draw me in, but then the CD will sit and collect dust on my shelf.

One guy whose new album I'm dying to get is Andrew Bird. I recently ran across his album The Swimming Hour and wow, is it amazing! The guy is some sort of violin virtuoso, but he plays jazz/swing/folk power pop, with violin often prominently involved - in one song it will sound classical, another like background orchestra, and in another like Devil Went Down to Georgia. Very unique.

This is from "Yours,Mine, & Ours" 2003.

I picked this off Emusic a couple of weeks ago. It is really poppy but I like pop when it's done right. So far, however, this track is the only one that has clicked with me. My wife digs it so it will make a few playlist just because of that.

No one is asking but "albums" that have captured my attention most lately:

Summer in Abaddon- Pinback
Now Here is Nowhere- Secret Machines
Other Victorians- Evening
Fu Manchu- Start the Machine

P.S. Just a reminder:

Frances the Mute - March 1st
Kasabian US release- March 8th

I've got a 400 disc changer, so everything I have is in it!

It took me several years, but I finally ripped all of my CDs to MP3s.

The lack of lyrics really turned me off of Mogwai at first but it really starts to creep up on you after a while.

Same here at first, but now Mogwai has become my official Study music for that same reason, and it is really good stuff. Sigur Ros is also on there for the same reason, try to listen to stuff either without words or words I can't understand when doing homework or drawings. Those are my two favorites for that right now.

You'll be very happy with Funerals, one of my favorite albums of last year. I hear they're an amazing live band also, so can't wait to get a chance to see them.

Hmm, I reall should check out Ted Leo now I guess...keep hearing about him.

Nothing. I don't have a 6-disc changer. I sue my computer, and I have about 60 gigs worth of space filled with mp3's at 128. We don't have the space to list what's in the playlist, but it's mostly old R&B and Jazz...

I like both Mogwai and Sigur Ros. You ought to check out Explosions in the Sky, the west Texas band which did the soundtrack for Friday Night Lights. Since we seem to have similar tastes, I thought you might like them as well.

Well worth it - Happy Mondays, Stone Roses influences, a bit of Air in the second half: quality stuff.

And they're from my hometown , they're huge Leicester City fans: nothing to complain about with this lot!

(Leicester's previous musical 'highlights' were Engleburt Humperdinck, Showaddywaddy, Crazyhead [these were actually quite good] and Mark Morrison - so a genuinely top band like Kasabian was much needed!)

Return of the Mack - Mark Morrison?

That's the one: shite to put it bluntly!

And rereading my previous post, I'd like to point it out that I was only marking out Crazyhead as being good - songs like 'What Gives You The Idea That You're So Amazing Baby?' and lines like 'Politicians do it on all fours'... Deep lyrical geniuses way ahead of their time!

We have a 6-CD changer ... just not in the car I usually drive. These six would likely be in it now if I used it for my commute, as they are the last six I've listened to.

Dire Straits - a live CD and their greatest hits album
Bob Seger - greatest hits volumes 1 and 2
Meatloaf - greatest hits
REM - greatest hits

Ok I picked up the Arcade Fire album from iTunes and it is good. Listened to the whole thing and I was really impressed. Had a definite Lips feel to it towards the end and a little Wilco towards the middle.

Have you guys had a discussion already about the Jack White produced Loretta Lynn album and I missed it. I am in no way a country music fan and I was really impressed. My father was a fan of country (his favorite was Tammy Wynette...probably because she was blonde) and this really takes me back to my early days with him. Anyway...
