One of the biggest chokes ever? (the Citadel)
Wow, I went to the Citadel-College of Charleston basketball game last night because my roommate goes to the CofC and he wanted to go. So the game is at the Citadel, and there are a million wannabe army guys there. With 4:28 to go in the game, the Citadel is up 61-45. The crowd is ungodly loud.
Over the next 3:28 of the game, CofC manages to take the lead, and they hold on to win the game by 3. They finished the game on a 21-2 run. I've never been to a game like that before. They overcame a 16 point lead in 3:28, then managed to hold off a team at the other team's place. Greatest thing I've ever witnessed in person. |

Not only did they overcome a 16-point lead in 3:28, they scored about 30% of their total points in the last 4:28 of the game. That's what makes it remarkable to me. I mean, if it was 100-84 with 4:28 left, making up the difference is more understandable, but if you've only scored 45 points over the prior 35:32, what happened?
