anyone graduate as a history major?
I'm just one semester away from it at IU. I'm also a Tcomm minor. Any job ideas for a history major. Please no sarcasm about how crappy the major is. Also, I don't want to go to graduate school at this time. Any ideas?

fellow history major here. Just got out recently too though so not sure I'll be all that much help. Tried my hand at a sales job, but it was the wrong company, or the wrong fit for my personality. I'm going to teach. But I imagine you could also get jobs in museums, working for nonprofits, also for insurance companies.

A good friend of mine graduated with a history major. He then went to law school. Being a history major doesnt close doors for you by no means.

HISTORY MAJORS IN DA HOUSE!
I too have the vaunted history degree. I think the most common job is to go into teaching, but you would priobably need to get your credential. Maybe try subbing to tide you over and see if it interests you. I myself was planning on a career in the military, which might be something you would be interested in. I ended up going to law school and becomming a lawyer, but again more education is required. How about being a police officer? Doesn't have much to do with history but all the cops I know get paid pretty well and they love their job. |

I majored in Political Science and minored in History. The American Civil War was my specialty.

I majored in History and minored in PoliSci, got my degree in 1999. So far, I've sold insurance, worked customer support and tech support for a large internet company, and I'm now currently a programmer. Liberal Arts are fun!

I was gonna major in History but like most of you have mentioned, it doesn't have a clearcut path for it and I figure everyone going to Law School is a History major. So it's Hospitality Management for me

Dang, I was beaten to this, so I'll just throw out this Simpsons quote. Kent: Scott, things aren't as happy as they used to be down here at the unemployment office. Joblessness is no longer just for philosophy majors. Useful people are starting to feel the pinch. SI
